DEAR BENFICA Seven years ago, I arrived at Benfica’s academy, a young dreamer eager to make my mark on the pitch. I envisioned a future draped in red, celebrating titles and lifting trophies with you, our passionate supporters. But as the seasons passed, I realized that at our club, the only thing lifted higher than trophies are the transfer fees. Your unwavering support, through every match and every transfer rumor, has been my anchor. From the highs of debuting at Estádio da Luz to the lows of seeing teammates depart for record sums, your cheers remained constant. As the years went by, I realised that Benfica’s true talent is not so much about developing players to win titles, but in developing lucrative transfer deals. I hope they build a museum for it some time in the future. To the fans, thank you for dreaming with me, even if those dreams were often cashed in for the latest market value. To the projects we were just starting, I hope they continue, even if the lineup changes as frequently as the transfer window. As I embark on my journey with Paris Saint-Germain, I carry with me the lessons learned: that at Benfica, success isn’t measured in goals or titles, but in euros. Lisbon will always be home, and you will always be family. But all good things come to an end, and the president knows he can’t cut off Joãozinho’s legs. It’s time for me to spread my wings and fly. Os resultados da auditoria forense hoje apresentados pelo FC Porto deviam fazer a atual direção do Benfica corar de vergonha. A forma omissa e desculpabilizadora, logo irresponsável, como o passado recente do Benfica é por eles tratado, é indigna do emblema que representam.
