Not many people these days know that the British Empire was the driving force behind ending the vast majority of global slavery. Slavery or de facto slavery was standard practice throughout the world from the dawn of civilization until a few hundred years ago. It is even discussed at length in the Bible, for example.

Indian Australians. The polling place in Mickleham, federal seat of Calwell. It was at the Gaayip-Yagila Primary School. One of a few booths that recorded a win for Yes in that seat. This suburb is now almost 60% Australian Indian. Enrolled voters a bit lower. This community did not have to wait for the Yes campaign to reach out to them. That would have taken a few years… if ever. They voted Yes because they have are acutely aware of what the Brits have done to them and Aboriginal Australians.
