Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell cautioned against reading too much into data on Wednesday showing the largest acceleration in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in more than a year, while acknowledging it was substantially above forecasts. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Binance recently filed a joint motion to put their lawsuit on hold for 60 days. The parties have agreed that the Crypto Task Force instituted by SEC acting chair Mark Uyeda could offer a swifter and more efficient resolution of the matter. Upon the completion of the 60-day stay period Binance and the SEC will submit a “joint status report” on the extent of the settlement. This report will determine whether or not there is a need to extend the stay period.
