As part of ongoing U.S.-Tanzania military and security collaboration, the U.S. and Tanzanian governments are pleased to announce two upcoming joint training exercises and programs aimed at enhancing regional security and peacekeeping capabilities. The land-based Justified Accord 2025 exercise focuses on building Tanzania Peoples Defense Forces (TPDF) peacekeeping capabilities, while the naval-based Cutlass Express maritime exercise, brings together Indian Ocean countries to boost maritime domain awareness and security. We join the people and the government of Tanzania in expressing our sincere condolences to the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF), their families, and all Tanzanians for the loss of life of two Tanzanian soldiers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The United States is deeply troubled by escalation of the ongoing conflict in eastern DRC, particularly the fall of Goma to the Rwandan-backed M23 armed group, and urges an immediate ceasefire in the region, and for all parties to respect sovereign territorial integrity.
