@msabirder That's what we did when I was manager at Uptonwarren Wetland reserve. We also used to pile it into bramble patches to help thicken the interior and create more opportunities for scrub nesters👍

@SmalePerry No, that's what I thought. I told the local 'expert' what I had experienced..his reply was "they don't sing at the top of tall trees".🤔😜They do now😉😄

Part 39K: O'REILLEYS. One of the species I expected to see up the North of Queensland was this beauty:- BLACK FACED MONARCH, luckily I found a pair on our last evening. Like the other 3 Monarchs (PIED, WHITE EARED & SPECTACLED) I saw up North, they are really pretty birds.

Part 39J: O'REILLEYS. In contrast to the Forest floor, there is a tree top walk way, then 2x 20 foot ladders at least 150ft up (not for the faint-hearted), here I got to see some canopy feeders, in good light. 1/2 GOLDEN WHISTLER. 3 SILVEREYE. 4 View from top of 1st ladder

@nicklin_terry We stayed at the Fajara Hotel in 1983. I think it was literally next to golf course. I think the hotel is no longer there or possibly renamed. The back of the hotel ran down to the beach. Good birding in the golf course and Kotu stream. Are you living in the Gambia🤔👍
