@Hi_breed7 @MathiasSsemanda @DongoShema @AAgather Matthias Semanda actually thinks the Mafia style of work of Nawangwe is the right way to lead organizations. He doesn't see how that kind of leadership demotivates staff and kills creativity. In my college, most of the best brains left for Universities abroad.

@MathiasSsemanda @DongoShema @AAgather @Hi_breed7 In an attempt to block someone who emerged the best candidate for DVC F/A from taking up his position, Nawangwe suspends some council members over false and non existent allegations, to prevent them from attending council meetings the next day, then reinstates them after.

@DongoShema @MathiasSsemanda @AAgather @Hi_breed7 They are a class ahead of Makerere in teaching, training and research. Makerere under Nawangwe is only carrying the old name made by former VC's. Otherwise there's nothing much going on. I was in Makerere for my bachelor's and I am now back for a second masters

@MathiasSsemanda @DongoShema @AAgather @Hi_breed7 You don't know what you are talking about. UMI is a govt institution of Higher Learning accredited by the same NCHE to offer masters a d PhD programs in Management. Their masters in management is even better than Makerere's. I say this as a student of both.

@MathiasSsemanda @DongoShema @AAgather @Hi_breed7 I got the 5:30-9:30pm from the time table we had for the 3 semesters we studied. The third Semester had 1 unit, and the other was for developing our research proposal. Of course I am a scientist. I don't cross your social colleges.

@MathiasSsemanda @DongoShema @AAgather @Hi_breed7 The reason students cannot finish their masters program in the set 2 years is largely because of institutional weaknesses, the majority which come from governance failures which we were discussing today. Makerere is sick! And Nawangwe has made things worse!

@MathiasSsemanda @DongoShema @AAgather @Hi_breed7 You are wrong. I have done masters in two Universities in Uganda while working. UMI first, now Makerere. In UMI I finished in record time of 2 years. The working arrangement only justifies the 2 years program, not the delay in supervising research where students take 4 years.

@DongoShema @AAgather @Hi_breed7 @MathiasSsemanda The justification is that most students study part time, mainly in the evening, because they work during day. So masters classes start at 5:30 and end at 9:30. Quite valid reasoning. Problem is the poor research supervision.

@AAgather @Hi_breed7 @MathiasSsemanda This was my second masters degree. The first, from UMI, moved fast. The supervisors had our time. In Makerere you are lucky if the lecturers give you time

@mukyalaNeighbor They are still drunk on qualifications. I know doctors who are now dealing produce. They buy maize, beans, rice, casava etc and they process and sell. They couldn't find a job that would pay them a decent wage. I know another who is into real estate.

@MathiasSsemanda @AAgather Nawangwe is left with 2 years to be VC. Those 2 years will end. He will go into retirement. Then you will explain to auditors in diagrams how, a temporal staff, accessed public funds to the tune of 300m+ to go abroad to study a course that is available locally.

@AAgather @MathiasSsemanda That's exactly what he is doing. One day Nawangwe will leave and he will have to account. It won't be easy.
