I wrote a book!
I can’t believe I’m finally holding this.
I feel like the luckiest person in the world to be able to live up here, and share this experience with everyone.
I pour my heart and soul into this, I hope you’ll check it out:
My book is out today!!
This book is the culmination of the past four years living in Cerro Gordo. It’s about the history uncovered, the obstacles overcome, the adventures taken, the beauty all around, and the lessons learned along the way!
Check it out:
This last month was awesome! Lots of updates on the American Hotel, mine explorations, silver making, and a special visit from
@CorridorDigital
!
Check it out:
Reprocessed some old Cerro Gordo captures with Gaussian Splatting. Love seeing the mountains in the background and the reflections in the glass 🔥.

We’re having a foot race up Cerro Gordo’s historic Yellow Grade Road! The first annual Cerro Gordo Silver Run!
It's short(ish) - 8 miles, but it's going to be HARD. You go from around 3,500 ft in elevation, to almost 8,500 ft.
Come make history!
New York Times BestSeller! Wow, I feel very grateful to everyone out there who has supported me, this town, and this book! Fun things to come at Cerro Gordo!
One of my favorite parts of refining silver ore to make a ring.
If you haven’t seen the full video yet, check it out. I mined and refined 100 pounds of silver ore to make a ring:
AMERICAN HOTEL UPDATE!
It’s been a long time coming, but we are rocking and rolling on rebuilding the American Hotel here.
Thank you all so, so much for all the support over the past 2 years! It means the world to me.
"22 Lessons From 22 Months Rebuilding A Ghost Town"
I thought a lot over the holidays about everything I've learned trying to rebuild Cerro Gordo over the past 22 months. Here are a few:
I had the great pleasure of meeting Jean Ray Kendrick, who lived at Cerro Gordo when her father ran the mines in the 1940/50s.
Sadly, Jean passed away after we filmed this, but I am so grateful we were able to spend time together and share her memories
New video is live! Truly hard to believe it has been TWO YEARS at Cerro Gordo. Easily the craziest two years of my life and I want to thank everyone so much for the ongoing support for the town and this dream! It means the world to me!
It's been two and half YEARS up at Cerro Gordo. That is almost impossible for me to believe.
Here is what has been going on the past few months. Some new renovations, new animals, new mine explores, and more!
New video this SUNDAY! Nov. 6th. 1pm.
A lot of progress up here at Cerro Gordo! Especially with the hotel.
I’ll be in the chat starting at 12:30pm. Hope to see you there.
I Found 100 Year Old Levi’s Down An Abandoned Mine (Finally!)
If you've been watching my channel over the past 18 months, you know how exciting this is for me!
Check it out!
NEW VIDEO! Tons and tons of progress around Cerro Gordo the past month or so.
A whole new floor to the hotel is done, Internet has been ran 900 feet down the main mine, history found, and a lot more!
I recorded my audiobook 900 feet underground! It was a 3 day adventure, complete with clearing mine collapses and building a bedroom. Hope you'll check out the video (and book)!
13 months up at Cerro Gordo! Loving it more each month.
Finally wrapped up some building renovations this month, took some great adventures, and pushed the ball forward on the big projects.
Thank you all for following along!
Crazy to believe I've been living at Cerro Gordo for 1-year?!
Thank you all so much for the support over the past 12 months. It's been so cool to see a community develop around the town.
Very special video this week with lots of new adventures!
New video is live. This was a really tough week up here at Cerro Gordo.
The "1,000 Year Flood" that hit Death Valley completely wiped out our road. It brought all our momentum to a very sudden stop.
Well, it happened…again. Our road was washed out again and that’s put a few things on pause. But I was also able to take some great side adventures that kept everything in perspective. Check it out:
NEW VIDEO! Even after the floods, we pushed forward and mixed 70 tons of concrete to FINALLY finish the basement of the American Hotel.
Hope you check out the video!!
I made some silver! To make it, I followed the instructions from a book published in 1886 that I found here at Cerro Gordo!
This is something I've ALWAYS wanted to try and over the past week or so, I gave it a shot. It was really a rewarding experience:
NEW VIDEO! This was an insane 50 mile hike that had over 25,000 ft of elevation gain/loss.
The reward was a look at 4 different mining camps that very few get to experience.
Check it out here!
New video! This one is on the historic town of Keeler, where Cerro Gordo sent all its ore to be shipped. Once upon the time the town had a port, steamships, a railroad, and dozens of businesses. There's lots of history in this old town!
New video is live!! We got hit HARD by the tropical storm. Our road was washed away, power was knocked out. But we started the rebuild.
Check it out here:
My 15 month up at Cerro Gordo was busiest yet! And probably most productive.
More progress on rebuilding the American Hotel, fixing the water situation, exploring mines, and scavenging wood!
Check it out!
This week I finally made it to the 900 Ft level of the Union Mine! That is where my gold play button from
@YouTube
rest until far past my days. Getting down there was...tense.
Thank you all so so much for the support!
I finally rappelled down into the Newtown Mine here at Cerro Gordo. A 300 ft descent (and more difficultly a 300 ft ascent)!
So cool to see first hand another piece of Cerro Gordo's history...
We had a footrace up Cerro Gordo's road! And it was some of the most fun I've had in a LONG time.
We had an Olympian, some ultramarathon runners, long-time friends, and more participate.
Check out the video here!
NEW VIDEO! It has been COLD and SNOWY up here the past few weeks. In this video I give an idea what it is like living up here currently, as well as have some fun along the way!
NEW VIDEO! We made serious progress on the hotel, found new mines, and even found some lost graves around the property.
Lots of history, lots of adventure, lots of progress!
New video is live! I mined 100 pounds of ore from the mines here to make a ring.
It took a few plane trips and a lot of work, but I think the result is stunning.
Hope you like the video!
This was my favorite mine exploration BY FAR and led me to something I was looking for for a very long time.
It took rappelling, rock climbing, and a bit of luck!
This past week, I finally climbed a cliff here at Cerro Gordo that I've been eyeing for a few months!
It was really fun to experience that sport and learn more about it firsthand. Check it out!
This week, I went 700 ft down into the Union Mine to replace our water pump! Construction is coming up, and I need all the water I can get.
I also used the opportunity to explore around a bit and find some artifacts...
New video! I've been living up at Cerro Gordo for a year and a half!! This month had all sorts of new adventures and restorations!
Thank you all so much for the support:
I've been living in an abandoned ghost town for 11 months!
This month was a fun one! I did a lot of building restorations, dirt-bike rides, and some field-trips to the neighboring mining towns of Darwin and Panamint.
Thanks everyone for the support!
This week I took a stroll down the steepest tramway in the US. A tram that used to bring salt out of Death Valley and up and over mountains.
Insane engineering, artifacts, and terrain along the way. Plus, a few tense moments!
Check out this look into ALL the buildings up at Cerro Gordo and some that have never been shown before! This is an in depth tour of all the changes around the town over the past few years!
This week I set off to find an abandoned mine. The directions I received were vague and hinged on things like finding a 'barrel' and 'odd looking tree.'
I didn't find what I was looking for, but I found something just as exciting...
This week I shared progress on our bunkhouse here at Cerro Gordo!!
Originally built in 1913, it is the place of many ghost stories here.
Over the past months I've been trying to brighten up the walls (and the energy). Hope you all enjoy!
A family recently sent me their grandmother's journal from her time at Cerro Gordo.
She was the caretaker from 1939-1942. In the journal she mentions the "Silver Spear" mine, which I had never heard of.
This week, I went looking for it...
Looking for a bit of help up here at Cerro Gordo! If you've ever wanted to spend some time in an abandoned ghost town and help bring it back to life, this might be it!
More here:
It took me 12 hours and I lost a boot along the way, but I walked the entirety of Cerro Gordo's abandoned aerial tramway.
Today, Mining trams are relics from the past, but in their heyday they were engineering feats.
I found some cool treasure too:
What was supposed to be a few week trip to socially distance has turned into 9 months!
Love it more up here every day.
Here's what's been going on the past month:
I've been living up at Cerro Gordo for 10 months?!
This month was special. A lot of building restoration, epic mine explorations, and a lot more.
Thank you for all the support and interest in the town. It's made this 10 months a lot of fun:
