This is my Mom and me. She passed away a couple weeks ago. We had a complicated relationship and had some unresolved bullshit. Hold 'em close and talk stuff out. Find a middle ground. Because you never know...
To clear up some confusion, yes, I was in the hospital the past couple weeks. I had an infection in my toe which I let go too long and it got real bad and had to be amputated. I'm technically less of a man, but am back at work again. Still at Giant Bomb. Hoping to catch a break.
I've had neuropathy in my hands for some time, but it's finally at a point where it's pretty much taken away my ability to enjoy fighting games. Especially if I have to use a pad. I'm just gutted. This sucks so much. Sorry for the "woe is me" tweet. I just had to vent.
We went out and got one of those big, dumb, news desks because we're professionals, dammit. It's very red. We'll still have a couch for special occasions.
Exhausted, starving, the weathered man orders a burrito bowl. In his beleaguered state, he neglects to fetch any eating utensils.
Back at the hotel room, the man is found shoving fistfuls of burrito bowl into his mouth as he clacks away at his personal computer.
E3 Begins Now
One of the coping methods I had for losing my job was to restart and play about 50-some hours of Monster Hunter Rise and get farther than I did in my 100-hr playthrough. It was just what I needed.
Still looking for a good Day Job! I've got 10+ years in the gaming media industry and have worn several hats. A/V production and content hosting primarily, but willing to branch out. Must be full-time and remote or local to Atlanta. Snatch me up! DMs open.
I got super ill last week (pancreatitis) and after a hospital stay and recovery that's going to take a while, I'm unable to finish up my GOTY stuff for GB this year. I'll try and get something out before year's end, but it's going to take a bit. Sorry! Back to the pain pills!
3rd hospital stay in as many months. Diabetic Gastroparesis (they think) this time. Been here since Saturday - had to miss Halloween and postpone my kid's party. About to be discharged soon though so maybe NOW things will settle down? What a year.
Gotta tell ya, it's nice to finally hear from a specialist doctor, "you're doing great. I don't have to see you for 6 months". I'm used to seeing some every week or two.
My kiddo turned 5 today! He wanted a Mario themed birthday! I made his cake and cupcakes and we decorated including a larger than life Mario. He loved it all!
Speaking of that job I wanted, Giant Bomb is also celebrating its 10 year anniversary today. I'm incredibly fortunate and have had a hell of a good time here in my handful of years here.
I've been sitting on a project that I've been hesitant to do due to disabilities, but just received an offer of help and I broke down. Kindness counts.
Wow. Finally in an Uber home. Rough trip health-wise, but I still had a great time. So good to see the crew and smiling faces. Long live GB. Now, time for some Street Fighter 6.
Not only did they put a fighting game on the cover, the whole damn issue is full of fighting stuff.
@gameinformer
sent me this copy along with my long lost Solomon Grundy! Miss all of you so much!
It's been like 4 years of wounds, various boots, and surgeries, but this sucker is coming off today. That is, until I need to be mobile. My foot isn't quite up to walking shape yet.
I'm needing to replace my video card so I checked in at Fry's. There was a dude there that was pricing out the 1070s. We got to talking, he showed me a picture of the crypto-farm he's building, and I WANTED TO FIGHT HIM SO BAD. I gave him a LOOK and walked away in disgust.
Daaang. Guilty Gear and Phantasy Star Online 2 NG running their betas during the same time period this weekend. Can y'all coordinate or something next time? I wanna play 'em both.
We're kicking off Giant Bomb's 16th birthday month by having friends of the website (past and present) talk about their favorite moments!
First up, some guy named
@DanRyckert
!
Jason has a vast collection of Friday the 13th Memorabilia and he had an idea of displaying some of his masks in a kind of artistic way. I did my best to bring his idea to life and even backlit them. It was fun! Glad they're out of the box and on display now.
Spent a good portion of the weekend at a friends house watching them play Elden Ring. He casually mentioned that he was about 35 hours and probably "pretty close to the end".
Game Informer was incredibly important to me both as a fan and employee. Its closing is terribly upsetting and my heart goes out to those who worked there till the wheels came off.
Welp. My son who is apparently 80yo has asked me to "keep it down he can't sleep with all the noise" from my silent stick and buttons. So, I guess I'm done for the night?
I think this is the first time I've been in target range and the lowest my a1c has been since getting diagnosed with diabetes. This little Continous Glucose Monitor has really saved me.

Found my son (8) reading Steam reviews for Five Nights at Freddy's and he read this one aloud and I'm like, "OK let's take a quick break from Steam, buddy"
