I loved meetha paratha as a kid, so much so that I’d request it for school lunch as well. When Ammi was done mixing the flour,water and sugar & started rolling the parathay, I’d sneak up just to poke my fingers in the dough until my she would shoo me away.

Releasing Doctor Strange could have waited for a few days. The last thing we need when the industry is finally opening up after two years is some foreign film hijacking our screens and relegating us in a corner. Home grown cinema has more right any day.

Covid really made me realize how important traditions are. I understand why my parents were adamant on pre-Eid cleaning, tayyariyan and Eid dawats.
Without traditions the very few cultural festivities we have hold very little value. They don’t feel the same.

I was always really excited to get back from school in summer because Ammi made sure there were popsicles, especially jet sports, in the freezer for us. I would take the lychee one and my sister would always pick the brightest color so she could show everyone her dyed tongue.
