🐬 flippening tracker live on Almost 10 years ago ETH the asset was born. Starting 22 July 2014, ETH was permissionlessly purchasable with BTC. The initial ICO rate was 2,000 ETH for 1 BTC. When the ICO ended on 1 September 2014, BTC's marketcap was roughly 250x the size of ETH. The Ethereum blockchain was not even live. Genesis block #0 happened 30 July 2015, 333 days later. Fast forward to today and the ETH marketcap has wildly outperformed BTC's marketcap, almost 100x. The ETH token outperformed even harder: 1 BTC today only buys 17.5 ETH. What is the flippening? It's when the ETH marketcap flips the BTC marketcap. As the chart shows, we're almost there: less than 3x further outperformance is required. Ranking top is about more than vanity. It is a strong reinforcing Schelling point that makes the incumbent hard to unseat. BTC has enjoyed incumbency for 15 years. But times are a'changing. BTC's fundamentals are ultimately weak: no sustainable long-term security and no true programmability. This is a golden opportunity for ETH. The chart highlights the flippening wedge with an exponential ratio projection. Traders may notice the higher lows, which means that ratio dips are up only. At this rate the flippening should happen in around 2 years. Timelines can suddenly accelerate. ETH spot ETFs may launch near the 10-year ICO anniversary. May the best money win.
