📢We are hiring! 📢 We are looking to recruit an Assistant Professor in Health and Climate Change, through the UCD Ad Astra Fellows programme. Applications are particularly welcome from candidates with demonstrable expertise in the interaction of the climate emergency and human health which include climate impacts, risk and resilience, disaster preparedness, food safety and security, waste interaction, pollution and impacts from extreme events, and ideally with experience of working on such issues with a broad range of disciplines (e.g., veterinary science). *** Just published *** Research, led by SPHPSS Dr Adrien Aubert and Assistant Professor Catherine Phillips, as part of the EndObesity project, has been published in 'Pediatrics'. Key finding from the analysis of 4 European birth cohorts (from Ireland, France and the Netherlands) is greater maternal and parental adherence to healthy lifestyle behaviors during pregnancy is associated with a lower risk of offspring overweight / obesity throughout childhood, highlighting the importance of promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors at the family level during pregnancy. Congratulations to SPHPSS Prof Patricia Fitzpatrick and Dr Alison Connolly who were announced as finalists in the 2024 UCD Research Impact Case Study Competition. Prof Fitzpatrick was awarded the "Engaged Research" prize for her work in supporting cancer patients to quit smoking post diagnosis. Dr Connolly was recognised for her work on using human biomonitoring to understand chemical exposures among the population. Read more at
