this week i finished my first writers room, sold a show to a major streamer, and was hired to re-write a feature with a female director i adore. my agents might be on my head cause the ink aint dry just yet but im tired of being scared of sharing my blessings! God been too good!
theater is a dying art form because the seats too small. how you wanna stay relevant but you discriminate against big asses???? bad bitches wanna see plays too!
pretty privilege is not real because pretty, as we know, is subjective. what is real is colorism, fatphobia, featurism, texturism, and transphobia and any combination of those things results in what we incorrectly describe as pretty privilege
dj envy and a lot of the folks who spread anti black lies about black people not having "financial literacy" end up in legal trouble because the truth is that poverty is not an individual condition and there is no legal way to "hack the system". billionaires know that best
theater people gotta do better on instagram. if i follow you back and every picture is an excerpt of a script im unfollowing. show some ass or something! this aint new play exchange!
Chris Colfer shares his shrine dedicated to the late Queen Elizabeth II:
“Thank you, Your Majesty, for your passionate devotion, unwavering stability, and unprecedented resilience. Your example had a profound effect on a boy eight-thousand miles away. ❤️🇬🇧”
all the bad bitches who liked this tweet better come see my play Mingus
(produced by
@tkirdahy

@bmorenow2
) when it opens on the great [redacted] way! i know that much!
Not me with Benjamin Franklin’s copy of the Constitution 😮 Hi just normalizing Black people in proximity to important American artifacts on a Friday afternoon
a lot of the time featurism and texturism are subcategories of colorism, but as we saw when y'all called a particular tik tok creator "white passing" even though she is dark-skinned, featurism and texturism alone can be the source of "pretty privilege"
rihanna is the best dressed celebrity in recent history. she knows how to dress her body at all sizes. the jumpsuit was purposefully zipped down to highlight her midsection pls don't start being fake body positive TODAY
this narrative so so anti-Black. I've been a theater kid since I was 8 years old. I left my majority Black middle school to go to a performing arts high school and all of my friends only supported me. They still do! 15 years later!
its why many light skinned celebrities who already benefit from colorism opt for nose jobs. because being light but still phenotypically black is not enough to garner the maximum amount of privilege
I've benefited a lot from colorism because my experiences with fatphobia have not been nearly as derogatory or violent as other fat dark skinned women I know, especially in the dating space. Its not because I'm "prettier" than them. It's literally just because light skinned.
This was on my mind because I said something relating to AD and Clay and colorism that some folks were offended by. AD is literally an objectively attractive woman! But in order to tackle institutional racism and its effects on desirability we have to call a thing a thing
Its also why a trans beauty icon who literally created the baddie ig aesthetic was more widely accepted by cis black women because she "passed" as a cis woman and because she is light skinned
Had Ashley stayed out of it, Wendy vs Nneka could have been a fun "I don't know her" shady storyline a la Nene and Phaedra. But she had to put her forehead in it

im logging back on to say a few things:
1. I got my first job as a staffed tv writer
2. i bought my mama a peleton for mothers day (shit hurts but i think its gone be worth it)
3. after the love is gone by earth wind and fire is the best song on earth i think
This is why being a Real Housewives historian comes in handy. Don't nobody fight more than New Jersey. Teresa literally pushed Andy. Candiace trying to make this a "Black woman" thing is ridiculous

Its an ethnicity. I'd even venture to say that she's ethnically African-American as well as racially white. But i don't think the internet likes multiple truths
In the past few weeks I've spoken (via zoom) at 3 universities, including my alma mater, and I've corresponded with a few college students about writing professionally. Then this morning an 8th grader requested to interview me for a school project. I really do love the kids 😩
joyner lucas said karen civil took $60,000 in payment with no proof of work and everybody on clubhouse victim blamed him and turned the shit into music industry 101. she got shooters or something like...????
maybe im missing something but every black american has white ancestry (by force). and angela davis with that curl pattern and fenty 220 skin tone....the shock and awe seems...strange?
every time i turn to a new news station they're bringing in "experts" on THE latino vote, and THE black vote but no one, absolutely NO ONE is talking about why white folks continue to vote for that man
imagine the hurt, pain and suffering we could avoid if just half of these men got BFAs in musical theater like they wanted to instead of going to seminary
