Not just a love letter to cinema, but crucially, a film about being consumed by it.

, my review of THE FABELMANS + how Spielberg’s films and artist’s persona shaped who I am. Here’s to all troubled kids who became obsessive cinephiles 💖
thinking about that Robert Pattinson romance movie that doesn't know how to wrap up the story so it just ends with him going to the twin towers on 9/11
As a former food network child and film watcher I literally bring up whenever possible that the Pioneer Woman’s family literally owns the land that is at the center of Killers of the Flower Moon… whenever I see her cookbook or her frying pans I need to vent. its my roman empire
my favorite part about SPIDER-VERSE is that it is not just about the question “can I rise to the occasion?” but specifically, “can I rise to the occasion when there are plenty of more capable people in this world?” and it uses the oversaturation of superhero lore to express that
the timeline switching in Gerwig’s LITTLE WOMEN is not that confusing and its one of the smartest changes to the source material that makes it distinct and thematically powerful and I genuinely think a linear structure would make it an inferior movie
Timothée learnt Italian, how to play the guitar and the piano and spent whole months in Italy for this project. He made a masterly interpretation and gave life to Elio. Nobody else could have done it better than him and you didn’t appreciate it. I’m so disappointed and mad.
explaining ACAB as a concept should not be similar to “all lives matter” — avoid using buffers such as “yes, there are some good cops, but the message is...”
no one is born a cop, it’s a choice to uphold institutional racism. all cops ARE ideologically and fundamentally, BAD
A24 releasing a personal film from a new director that they think will be an awards season hit: playing in 3 theaters only on opening weekend
A24 releasing the most insane and niche horror movie that audiences will hate: this has to open on every screen in America or we will die
"I'm interested to see what movie we make when Saoirse's in her 50s and I'm in my 60s. Won't that be interesting?"
#LittleWomen
writer/director Greta Gerwig has big plans for her muse, Saoirse Ronan
Luke: Is Darth Vader really my father?
Yoda: Hey! I’m so glad you reached out. I’m actually at capacity / helping someone else who’s in a crisis / dealing with some personal stuff right now, and I don’t think I can hold appropriate space for you. Could we connect [later date or
if Ellen Page and Emma Stone can apologize for working with Allen so can everyone else. It doesn’t fix everything but apologizing and making the commitment to stop working with abusers is a start.
no joke, this is literally the cutest thing to happen on Twitter in a long time. this movie really feels like a positive, connecting force and I love it.
okay now that we’ve all seen that Freddie Mercury ghost fan art are we gonna finally talk about how the fandom keeps romanticizing his death as if he were like a disney character and not a real person that died in the hands of homophobic society
why would I pay to see a Jared Leto Joker movie when I can log onto twitter. search hashtag boycottstarwars, and witness a bunch of edgy middle aged clowns for FREE?
and lets not forget: it took way longer than it should have to get an oscar award winning actress’s debut film out there and distributed! this was sitting on the table for quite some time so lets support it all we can!
since yall now stan brie larson reminder that she directed a movie called unicorn store and it's coming out on april 5th on netflix please support it !!!!!
The Star Wars cast is by no means required to like THE LAST JEDI themselves, but I have to admit their constant throwing Rian under the bus is just getting tedious at this point. They have to know the broader implications of the narrative they are pushing. It’s irresponsible.
Which is your favourite film that has won Best Picture at the Academy Awards in the past decade?
2010: Hurt Locker
2011: The King's Speech
2012: The Artist
2013: Argo
2014: 12 Years a Slave
2015: Birdman
2016: Spotlight
2017: Moonlight
2018: The Shape of Water
2019: Green Book
I’ve already tweeted about LITTLE WOMEN’s timeline and why it’s so good before the anonymous oscar surveys came out but the amount of replies I read telling me it was confusing for people who havent read the book... not to be mean but some of you don’t know how to watch movies
yall I wasnt implying Keanu Reeves isn’t asian it’s just hilarious and surprising that he looked like he came off the set of John Wick 3, put on glasses and did this movie in the last few seconds of this trailer
thinking about the opening scene of KOTFM where the Osage are concerned about their culture fully disintegrating the more the white men marry and settle into their land versus the last shot, a celebration of their survival and endurance 🥲
Since HER gets put on Netflix this month and more people are going to watch it for their first time beware of pretentious white boys that see themselves in Theodore without self-awarely recognizing that he's kind of an asshole sometimes
Academy voters can't handle critiques on racism that aren't involving slavery or civil rights period pieces because they like to believe that racism ended and Get Out being a contemporary piece on racism doesn't fit their agenda so they will say anything they can to devalue it
All fucking high school student films are obsessed with two things
- breaking the fourth wall
- being super in-depth with the main characters daily hygiene routines
I LOVE him so don’t take this an an insult but nothing is funnier to me than the fact that jake gyllenhaal is a talented, conventionally attractive white man and yet he and his agent really struggling to find him a marketable personality
“Rian Johnson made too much of his own movie and didn’t leave JJ with the material to make a strong finale” is a poor excuse because good storytellers are good problem-solvers. If you have the will, imagination, and something to say, you can write your way out of anything.
men on letterboxd: how dare women go on this platform and make joke reviews whilst my hard work goes unnoticed!
men on letterboxd: its heathers meets mean girls meets american psycho meets the purge meets the holy mountain meets tarantino meets the breakfast club laced with LSD
succession fans who claim s1 isn't as good as the others are crazy. I'm sorry kendall roy committing vehicular manslaughter on coke or tom wambsgans telling greg he swallowed his own load with deep, empty sadness in his eyes isn't enough for you
thirty dollars for a rental that requires a streaming service you must already be subscribed to... congratulations to Mulan for being the first blockbuster to premiere on 123movies
