Just glad that DOTr made this statement. As someone has said, why fix it if it aināt broke?
WHY SHUT IT DOWN IF IT WORKS? Following statements from government officials considering the discontinuation of the EDSA Bus Lane, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) released a statement on Wednesday, emphasizing that the busway "continues to be one of the most efficient public road transport systems in Metro Manila." "In 2024, over 63 million commuters enjoyed an efficient travel experience along the EDSA Busway," the DOTr said, adding that in January 2025 alone, the system served "more than 5.5 million passengers," with an average of 177,000 daily commuters reaching their destinations "conveniently, safely, and quickly." The DOTr statement also noted that the EDSA Busway is considered a crucial step toward a progressive public transportation system, with 23 stations operating 24/7, providing commuters with a safe and reliable transport option.
