Look at me! I’m high altitude training for the tour! My mom went to her favorite place - the library- and got books to read. She says she’s hanging out with ME all weekend!

I found a new favorite place to sleep by the apartment door. My mom now puts down sofa cushions and sleeps here with me here every night.

Mom: Tugboat is hospitalized at the emergency vet overnight and is receiving fluids, anti nausea medication, and antibiotics to treat suspected pancreatitis. Kidney levels are up but expected due to his vomiting today. Thank you for your messages, prayers and support.

He’s home! Still not great but eating a little. On new medications, including an appetite stimulant. Having an echocardiogram Friday to see if his heart can tolerate increased steroids for the liver disease and fluids for the kidney disease.

Mom: Echo revealed minor changes to his heart and early hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Cardiologist wants the steroid he is on changed and wants to hold off fluids until his kidney values can be rechecked. Appt scheduled Monday. Thanks everyone for the nice texts and messages!

Mom: Had to take him back to the emergency vet at 2 am because his bottom was swollen. They expressed it and went home. He shows interest in food but walks away from it. I put out some human tuna to see if that works. Any suggestions as to food, human or not, really appreciated.

After a sleepless night I decided to create a fundraiser to help with Tugboat’s hospitalization bills. His hospitalization for 24 hours is $3000 and could be higher, depending on todays news. I appreciate and am deeply grateful for any support.

Mom: Update on Tug. Had to start fluids yesterday as he was dehydrated again. Ordered the kidney diet and the new steroid which hopefully won’t affect his heart as much. Administering fluids helps the kidneys but it’s a balancing act with his heart murmur. Thank you all again!!
