It's great seeing @adam3us schooling CSW's barrister on the difficulty adjustment. The white paper was a simplification, stating that difficulty was just about finding a hash with a leading number of zeros, while the actual code is more precise. CSW's barrister doesn't seem to

This is an important point. It's similar to Roger Ver noticing that Craig didn't realise addresses had checksums. It seems that he also doesn't know early bitcoin addresses were public keys, not public key hashes. That alone definitively proves he cannot be Satoshi.

Lastly, regarding Wright's previous insistence that the Genesis block reward address doesn't have any public/private key, he says that it's hashed and only looks like a key but is actually keyless. (The Genesis block reward is P2PK and not hashed.)

Back after a break. CW being accused of manipulation by setting the date of a document to be in the future, when he swore that he had not done any manipulation or forgery. CW disagrees, this is not manipulation but creation.

The term UTXO was also not used until 2012, but CW has used the term in his reliance documents, together with reference to a UTXO pool, which also wasn't referred to by that name at the time.

Back after lunch. Straight into the questions to CW about his LLM dissertation. A complicated story about what was included in the thesis provided by the University. Did it include the proposal? Statement of truth from CW says it was not attached. There appears to be an argument

Just to be clear, I am not being "paid by career troll Arthur van Pelt to try to strike out as many of nChain’s patents as possible". This is a lie from fake CoinGeek reporter "Jordan Atkins". Arthur managed to scrape together the official fees for only 3 oppositions thanks to

CW tries to explain himself by not having looked at the code since 2017. "Do I remember all the functions off by heart? No". G: Satoshi would have remembered how that function worked.

G: This is very compelling evidence that you incorporated elements that could not have possibly come from 2007-2008.

Lord Grabiner KC starts today's proceedings with some statements about patents. This is something I know a bit about. His first point relates to CSW's alleged first pay-tent about Bitcoin. This was to do with work he did with Jamie Wilson in around 2011. This had nothing to do

JH: You wanted to get to 100 witnesses to support your claim. You have only 2 who claim to have had the white paper before its release - Matthews and your uncle. CW: Matthews never provided funding for me. Ignatious Pang was involved. Rob (MacGregor) was involved. Dave Bridges,

Exactly. It was hard to spot any significant points of law being argued in the trial, so there will be little if any scope for appeal.

@AussieDaz81 Mellor J will refuse permission to appeal. Craig would have to apply to the Court of Appeal for permission to appeal. I believe he will fail because the trial was largely about factual issues, not law, and Mellor J's decision will have been based mainly on Craig's hopeless...

It's about time I did another update on where nChain's patenting activities are, in case anyone is still interested. The current news is that they are still continuing to get new applications published and granted at the EPO. There is no sign that activity is slowing down in

Taking pictures from within the court or the live stream is strictly forbidden and could constitute contempt of court. It has come to my attention that this was done yesterday. I expect Mr Justice Mellor will remind everyone at start of proceedings today. Don’t do it.

@digitalnaut He is deliberately misrepresenting the developers' argument, which is that they do not have a fiduciary duty at all. He is twisting it to be that the developers are in charge and are refusing the change the code, which is not correct. The developers can change the code, but so

Someone please explain to me how getting a patent proprietor to revoke their own patent is somehow an attempt to “steal intellectual property”.

Wow. Craig has filed a patent application this week, the invention disclosure for which dates back to 2008. That is quite something.

After a long wait, a response from @nChainGlobal 's patent attorneys was filed yesterday on the first opposition filed by @Arthur_van_Pelt , which was against European patent EP3449450B1. For background, I recommend reading this post from last year:

It's interesting that Grabiner KC is referring to Article 10 ECHR relating to freedom of expression. According to CSW, this does not apply to anyone saying unkind things about his pay-tents. I know this from experience.
