The new book is out! I had what is known as an NDE, although mine was a bit different as I visited the Spirit World for a while on my birthday last year. And now the Next birthday so I spent the last year putting together this book as a tell-all. It's a

I don't know if you cats will be into this, but I made my own GPT, constructed from my 5,000 blog entries and several books I fed into the machine. You can upload any photo you like, and it will give you a critique with my experience and voice.
Huge announcement! Via a PROOF Collective official collab I am dropping 1,000 Unique 1 of 1 photos with 1,000 unique stories from 7 continents all around the world. - See the thread below for details! 🧵 🧵 🧵 🧵 🧵 🧵 🧵 🧵 🧵
A photo I recently finished from the Guangxi province of China. It wasn't the easiest shot to get. I had to climb up one of those big hills you see in the distance. I was a hot sweaty mess when I got to the top. Just after I took the photo, a spring rain came down to cool me off.
Most people don't know this... but this is how 98% of the Great Wall of China really looks like. Nature has taken over and is pulling it back into the Earth. Most photos you see of the Great Wall are Chinese Disney-like recreations of a very small portion of the wall.
Good job New Zealand! No new COVID-19 cases in the past 10 days. Everything is pretty much open now and we had a big party at Slow Cuts with 100 people the other night... That's the legal limit now for gathering so it was nice to get out and about a bit, even for an introvert.
Merry Christmas everyone! Actually, Christmas was yesterday here in New Zealand, and I went out to take some photos (that's how I give myself a Christmas gift). It's the middle of summer here, and the lupins are growing like crazy.
Here's the giant 747 that made it out to Burning Man this year. It was converted into a huge dance club that would taxi across the playa every night to a different location. I took this just before sunrise.

The amazing teapots! You can see them rolling across the desert from miles away. This is one of the 100+ art cars out there that you can climb aboard any time. It's a great place to have a tea (or a G&T) and watch the world go by.

This was one of those rainy situations where I had to wipe down the lens after every exposure until I could get a clean shot. We have one more day here in Hong Kong, and then we're going to Macau, Sanya, Koh Samui, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, then Langkawi!

Here's an image from Tokyo I just finished working on. On the way back to New Zealand, I only got to spend about 12 hours exploring, but it was much better than staying in the airport! I also popped into a random sushi restaurant where no one spoke any English. It was amazing!

Well, I’ve been going a little crazy with this unusual form of “photography” where I sit behind a computer without a lens rather than a computer with a lens...

This photo here is from Milford Sound where I think it will be QUITE a while before we see another cruise ship sail into the fjord... in NZ we go to Level 2 lockdown in about 36 hours, so that's pretty exciting but still a long way to go to normality.
New Zealand is in Lvl 4 Lockdown now...meaning self-isolation for 4 wks. For INTJs like me, it's a dream come true; plus, they say it will save 10k+ lives! I'll be here alone in my cabin in the mountains reading books in front of the fire, and playing video games to save lives :)
Here's photo 10/20 of my favorite scenes from Antarctica! I was down there for about a month at Scott Base with Antarctica New Zealand. If you want to see more photos and stories, head over to the blog at StuckInCustoms dot com
Look at this incredible tree in the middle of the desert. It's decorated with 250,000 LEDs. You don't even have to be on drugs to get tripped out!

Here's a new photo I processed of a massive glacier in Dry Valleys of Antarctica. There are not any hate groups around here, as far as I could tell. There were a few penguins which seemed to have some anxiety, but I think that's just how penguins are.
I've spent the last three days exploring snowy mountain villages right out of fairy tales. I've even been living in some of these old farmhouses, some of which have been converted to simple but warm ryokans. This one is in the North East of Japan in a town called Shirakawa-go.
Here's a panorama made out of about 10 photos in Botswana. We waited out by a watering hole for a little over an hour as almost 60-70 different groups walked by I think the full rez on is a bit over 20,000 pixels across. I can hang out and watch elephants all day! 🙂

Here's a photo I took today on my daily walk... The Autumn colors around here are really starting to pop... I have a good audiobook I'm listening too also which makes the walks even more enjoyable. Tomorrow I'll see if I can keep it going for 4+ hours!
Hey pretty cool news from New Zealand in that we've had 0 new infections for the last 3 days. We just arrive at Level 2 now which means pretty much everything is open like gyms, movie theaters, restaurants, salons, etc. Still a long way to normal though...
I've been working over the weekend on a few dozen images for a new project. It's taken a massive amount of time, but I've enjoyed putting together a theme. Here's one of the finished versions from Central Park in New York City.
Here's a view from where I live in Queenstown in New Zealand as a storm is rolling in at the exact same time as sunset. Those mountains in the distance are called The Remarkables.

I spent the last two days exploring little villages all around Mt. Fuji. It's Autumn here so it's getting pretty cold, but it makes for a beautiful snow-capped Mt. Fuji. I've never walked to the top of it, but I will my next trip I think.

Here's one of the hundreds of art pieces that sprinkle the white desert out there. This one is all about man becoming conscious. It reminds me of Neal Stephenson's new book called "Fall" - which I recommend!

The night of the Temple Burn. The temple is a special place where people take keepsakes from loved ones that have died or simply go write on the wood inside... this year I'm taking a photo of my dad holding my son Ethan. I'll write something. I'm not sure what yet.

I've been working on some NZ photos lately because I'm excited that I've finally become a citizen! Well, kinda. I got the email that says I've been approved and now just waiting on the ceremony. They give me a little tree I can take back and plant in the garden!
We spent about three hours here inside Gaudi's masterpiece. Thanks to Curtis, we had a special art curator from the cathedral get us access to areas where the public is not allowed. One of the places she took us was up into the upper cloisters where the Pope hangs out.
I took this the night before the final launch of the space shuttle. I was able to get in really close thanks to some friends at NASA. I also mounted Leo Laporte's camera to a post with a timer to capture the blast off from really close. It melted. Looking back, not a great idea!
At night, the old town in Takayama is quiet and peaceful. This is one of about 6 new towns I'm visiting this trip, and each one has been completely different in its own Japanese way.
This photo was an accident. I was as close as possible to the launch, at the edge of the media area at NASA. At blast off, there is a delay before you hear it. As the first sound wave ripped through my skeleton I think I just hit the trigger out of fear and shock combined!
I'm not sure who this lady is, but she was very friendly! I usually try to get names/emails so I can follow up, but a few fall between the cracks. Maybe we'll cross paths again randomly...

Love is the answer! It's pretty simple, really. I notice people tend to make life overly complex... just love and be kind, even if other people aren't. That might be the only thing I've figured out in life so far! 🙂 Everything else is a mystery! 🙂

We drove from Queenstown to Glenorchy a few days ago and this was the view in the late afternoon. Every time I drive by this point I jump out to take a photo... it's always different. This day we had some pretty nice clouds!
Here's my two little girls in India... I was thinking about putting together a photo adventure workshop there for 2020. I'm itching to get back! Last time, we were living on a train for about a week going through the southern part.
