@gabor Walrus operator is great for simplifying control flow. I stopped using it for a while because it caught so many people off guard, but it's been out long enough (5 years?) that it's probably fair game to use it everywhere now.

@Kazanjy I've put in my fair share of late nights, weekends, and last minute international flights over my years at both startups when necessary. But trying to rationalize being an absent parent as being good for the kids feels like mental gymnastics.

@Kazanjy I'm betting not. When I'm working from home in evenings, the kids know it. They learned what work time is. They understand the importance of separating work time and family time, as well as honoring obligations. If you want to teach kids about work, being absent hardly does it.

@Kazanjy Not missing, disagreeing. Spending more time with my kids in the evening 5X per week is far more valuable than demonstrating "extraordinary effort" by being absent. I doubt either my kids nor myself will look back and regret spending too much time together in their childhood.

@jaltma The largest single-cell organism is so big you can hold it in your palm The smallest living cells are mycoplasma, which are smaller than even some viruses.

@JoshDance @dsiroker @LimitlessAI Thread mills are smaller than normal taps. The tooth at the end cuts the threads. The CNC machine sends the thread mill down the hole in a spiral motion that cuts the thread pattern.

@JoshDance @dsiroker @LimitlessAI CNC milling is the most precise, has the best surface finish, and can directly create small threaded holes. Casting and SLS 3D metal printing would leave a rough surface and still require CNC post-processing for fine details and holes.

@jonst0kes That entire thread didn't explain anything at all. Mayht's technology moves the speaker motor (coil) to the side. Driver becomes flatter, so you can put two of them on opposite sides of the same space. Allows for flatter speakers with drivers on both sides. That's it.

@gabegundy If you're a Costco member, consider their car buying program: When I used it, they had a fixed price that the partner dealers had to sell the car for. The dealer tried to add things, so I called Costco and the dealer immediately stopped messing around.

@jrsikken Officially “non-contact voltage tester” However, “volt tester”, “AC detector”, “voltage pen” and “hey hand me that thing that lights up when the wire is live” are all acceptable.

@BWJones Some registrars like PorkBun make it easy to transfer out in minutes. Others will delay the release for days to give owners a chance to catch and cancel fraudulent requests (ostensibly). Some registrars can speed up the release process if you contact support.

@femtoduino My usual ABS/ASA tips: 1) Enclosure is enormously helpful. Even a cardboard box would help. 2) Enabling a skirt around the print can help with bed slingers. Reduces drafts from moving back and forth 3) Bed temp to 100C or more if you can 4) Super-dry filament can help too
