Yesterday the defence sec said that the Yantar, a known Russian intelligence ship, was spotted passing through British waters. It's not the only Russian ship with military links to pass through UK waters since Feb 2022. With @Effy_Yeomans

Non-US Election News: A year ago @GeorgeGreenwood, @ltrgoddard and I reported that a UK semiconductor manufacturer, FTDI, bought by a Chinese state-owned entity had supplied chips to Russia - at least one ending up in a Russian Tank. On the back of our reporting, today the UK gov has forced FTDI's Chinese owners to sell their stake in the company due to concerns that the company's tech might be used in ways that are "contrary to UK national security".

Fun, highly unscientific, anecdote: If the FTSE 100 falls by more than 1% on a Thursday, Friday and then Monday, its average outturn on Tuesday is 0.9% For the FTSE 250, the figure is 0.4% (though the index only fell by 0.65% last Thursday)

5⃣However, given that this lobbying group makes no revenue (in the UK or anywhere) and would never do so it is likely the oddest business funded by taxpayers through the Future Fund. A spokesman for the BBB said that the scheme was rules-based and any company, regardless of their purpose, would receive funding if they met the eligibility criteria.
