The great @Lucy_Osborne and I have been looking at the goings on at the University of Buckingham. Was there really an attempted "coup" against the vice-chancellor by those who objected to his "anti-woke’ views"?
Exclusive: KC-led inquiry finds no evidence University of Buckingham’s James Tooley was victim of politically-motivated witch-hunt.

China's AI prowess has not come out of the blue. We recently published this investigation into how a top chip designer in a UK village was bought with Chinese money and shared its knowhow with Chinese engineers working on chips for AI that can be used in weapons systems.
*EXCLUSIVE* Chinese engineers developing chips for artificial intelligence that can be used in “advanced weapons systems” have gained access to cutting-edge UK technology. My latest @guardian investigation.

Reflect for a moment on what it means that the way an ex-UK prime minister now seeks to influence the current one is by threatening legal letter. This is life in Cuckooland, where those who can afford the fees use the law to police what can be said. I wrote a book about it.
***OUT TODAY*** After three extraordinary years following a thread that led from Conservative HQ to Putin's St Petersburg via Kathmandu and a royal Scottish retreat, my new book CUCKOOLAND is out. It's the tale of a world where the rich own the truth. Our world. 👇🧵

This tale of the struggle to control the technologies that could shape the future comes as we’re getting a glimpse of how far Xi Jinping’s communist regime seems able to reach into democracies. Just ask Prince Andrew. @dansabbagh explains.

Very good point. The scale does seem remarkable. This @EricLiptonNYT piece was very good. “That would essentially give the world’s richest man and a major government contractor the power to regulate the regulators who hold sway over his companies, amounting to a potentially enormous conflict of interest.”

Roll up! Roll up! Still some tickets left for @kilkenomics this week. I'll be talking about dirty money and how the rich own the truth. And discussing Russia with Putin's nemesis: @thedylanmoran.

“This is the iron rule: Trump serves only himself.” If this election were taking place in some far flung kleptocracy, we would call it how it is: a crook seeking to protect himself and his iffy fortune by gaining the immunity from prosecution that comes with public office.

Had a fascinating chat with @Scaramucci about my book on what happens when what rich own the truth.
I spoke with @tomburgis about his incredibly important book “Cuckooland.” We discussed: - The psychology of people like Elon Musk - What the hell is wrong with some rich people? - The story of Mohamed Amersi and more. 📺 🎧
