@bkkdude If I had this version, I could watch stuff getting burnt real time (some of us can’t be saved from ourselves).

Final step the drinks as shown in the vending machine appear on the phone display.. surprisingly in English too. Guess the machine is connecting via Bluetooth…

Miss these kind of blue sky days in Bangkok. Now a days very rare and if we see it in a photo, first question is if it was retouched.

@aimmariess Thanks, thought it was some new branding (or play on words) that went over my head.

@StampTheVisa I think the Yen devaluation is the main factor (Japanese who live here rarely say things are inexpensive, on the contrary talk about inflation). Thailand - most of us are using downtown BKK & Phuket prices as comparison. Imported goods are taxed heavily in Th, less so in JPN.

@jacktla Yes, generally resistant to change. Good at closed end systems, hard to adapt to open source. In fact a fair # of young Japanese early in their career that choose to work in BKK (low wage in both places, but quality of life a bit better, less cultural norms etc).

@jacktla Yes, one thing they've got going - people sacrifice willingly for the common good. Hard pressed to find another example Speaking of inflation, everything I see from the US is shocking, and your part of the country takes it to another level.

@jacktla Indeed, totally different here compared to other developed countries... both plus and minus. Shrinking tax base, population, property traditionally not seen as a store of value compared to Western countries... on the positive side, no external borrowings.

@jacktla Indeed, actually been happening over a long time. Think I remember household savings at 10T USD 20 years ago. Low interest (0%) on that for two decades would have been a great wealth drain. Dont know what bank rates are now, but likely below 1%.

@jacktla Also, have seen Shrinkflation at play here... or in some cases, charging extra for what previously would have been given away for free.

@R04ch @yakeeBkk That Eggs B breakfast with Kona Coffee (132B) was the equivalent of 484B. There were combinations on the menu, with coffee, for much less, that I'd have been perfectly content with. / Menu sample -
