Phoenix police stopped Sergio Alvarez for riding his bike and not having lights on it. The stop ended in his death. Video and audio released by Phoenix PD lend an idea of what happened. But many questions are left unanswered. My story here.

Donald Trump promised a unifying speech. Then he ranted for so long, even his biggest MAGA fans checked their watches. The low-down on Trump’s rambling, self-indulgent, chaotic RNC nomination speech

Someone stole William Woods’ identity. The LAPD arrested him, believing the identity thief over him. A judge later sent Woods to a mental hospital because he maintained (rightfully so) that he was the real William Woods. I interviewed him here

Phoenix police have shot and killed 8 people in 2024, 4 of them in the last month. Video released last week by the department shows a 30-second chase of one killing. But it contains no audio and blurs out various images, leaving many details unclear.

Wild to see Netanyahu yet again walk all over Biden, who on Sunday “reiterated his clear opposition” to an invasion of Rafah. More than half of Gaza’s 2.5m people have fled to Rafah. An invasion could be an unthinkable civilian catastrophe.
