Spectacular sunset tonight over Providence! When I saw the colors in the sky developing before my eyes, I had to pull off 195 and get to India Point Park. 90 seconds after this picture was taken, poof! The colors were gone.

The Scituate Director of Public Works said the damage from this tornado rivaled the damage from the Blizzard of '78. Wow. This was an EF-2 tornado with winds of 115mph.

The Fox Point Hurricane Barrier was closed at 4:20AM to protect Providence from the storm surge from this storm. I don't remember the hurricane barrier being closed twice in one month. that may never have happened in its 50+years of existence.

Even during the Blizzard of '78, we didn't have as much snow in one day as we did today. 18.8" fell at TF Green, breaking the old record of 18.3". The Blizzard of '78 record for 1 day snowfall is now 3rd at 18.0". The '78 storm is still #1 for an entire snow storm.
