Tech entrepreneur and Telegram founder Pavel Durov arrested in France. What is known so far? 🔺French authorities are possibly charging Durov with terrorism, drugs, fraud, money laundering, and child abuse content. If found guilty, Pavel Durov will face up to 20 years behind bars. 🔺Earlier, Durov stated that Western secret services were demanding him to provide a “backdoor” for them in the Telegram app. He reportedly declined to cooperate, claiming that Telegram should be a “neutral platform” and not “a player in geopolitics." 🔺Durov is the Russian-born founder of the Telegram encrypted messaging app and a tech mogul with $15.5 billion in net worth. 🔺Cryptocurrency markets immediately reacted to Durov's detention, with the Durov-founded Toncoin plunging 15% in value. 🔺Elon Musk has slammed the European authorities for detaining Durov and envisioned an Orwellian future where a person can be executed for simply pressing the “Like” button on a meme. 🔺Prominent journo, Tucker Carlson, who had interviewed Durov earlier, believes it is the US government behind Durov's detention.“Darkness is descending fast on the formerly free world," Carlson said. 🔺Former-CIA analyst, Larry Johnson, explained that Durov's detention is "a trumped-up political case" and alleged that the real reason is the allowance by Telegram to freely share information inconvenient to the Western elites.

My favorite Charlie Munger story: In 1953, Munger was 29 years old. Recently divorced. Lost the house. Huge social stigma of divorce back then. His 8-year-old son, Teddy, was diagnosed with cancer. The leukemia was incurable. No medical insurance - Munger paid for all his medical care. Charlie would visit Teddy in the hospital every day -- and then walk the streets crying. Teddy died at the age of 9. Charlie was broke, divorced and just lost his child. 99.9% of people would've turned to alcohol, drugs, or suicide. (And you'd understand why) Munger never did. Fast forward to 52 years old, a failed surgery left him blind in one eye with the potential of going fully blind one day. Charlie was an obsessive learner who read every book he could get his hands on. When confronted with the possibility of going blind and no longer being able to read he said: "It's time for me to learn braille!" The only thing that might be more impressive than his intellect was his actions. RIP. --------- Munger on Self-Pity: "Generally speaking, envy, resentment, revenge, and self-pity are disastrous modes of thought. Self-pity gets pretty close to paranoia… Every time you find your drifting into self-pity, I don’t care what the cause, your child could be dying from cancer, self-pity is not going to improve the situation. It’s a ridiculous way to behave. Life will have terrible blows, horrible blows, unfair blows, it doesn’t matter. Some people recover and others don’t. There I think the attitude of Epictetus is the best. He thought that every mischance in life was an opportunity to behave well. Every mischance in life was an opportunity to learn something and that your duty was not to be immersed in self-pity, but to utilize the terrible blow in a constructive fashion. That is a very good idea."

One can’t really comprehend the violence that is unfolding in Gaza. Pause the war, ceasefire, etc - these are just fuckin’ words used by politicians. Real lives are being destroyed and the rest of the world are almost helpless as we watch lives being destroyed, literally. It’s 2023, and we’re witnessing a genocide take place. WTF is wrong with these fellas?

Could we see a time where we vote and hire people into the government instead of parties? There are so many competent people that should be in the right place of governance and there are many who ought to be sitting out of their roles. How can we get the best onboard instead of entrusting a party to do this job? Because clearly ruling parties (past & present) struggle to place quality leaders we need at the helm of things. Just a contemplation. #malaysianpolitcs
