The King's plans for Faversham look fantastic. A development that tucks into the existing urban fabric, instead of some new builds plonked in an isolated field.
Nice traditional house designs, tidy realm & good densities.

HS2 cuts journey times between Euston & Birmingham by closer to 40 mins (50%) as well as unlocking more capacity on existing lines. But here's a novel idea - how about we act like modern, progressive country and build both HS2 AND these fantastic mini reactors!😀😀
Rolls Royce wants to build 16 small modular nuclear reactors each costing circa. £2bn. The programme would cost a fraction of HS2 but instead of knocking off 12 minutes of the journey time from Euston to Birmingham it would power 16 million homes.

Network Rail, which owns railway infrastructure, as well as LNER, which runs the train pictured, are both in public ownership...sadly that doesn't stop overhead line cables from going wrong (which is what happened tonight) - and probably never will.
My train to Leeds for tonight's Enough is Enough rally has been stopped just outside London for the last 3 hours. I'm sorry not to be there, Leeds! 😭

22 years ago today the Croydon Tram network opened. I'm sure you won't find many Croydonians who have anything other than a highly positive view of the tram - it's had a transformative impact on the borough, reducing traffic. Kudos to the cross-party efforts that made it reality.

I'd love it if that was the case but it isn't. Aldi is regularly rated the cheapest supermarket and yet it has one of the highest hourly rates for shop staff and also pays lunch breaks. I think there's a whole conversation to be had about retail and hospitality wages.
