Delighted to be starting a new @RacingTV column in the run up to Cheltenham. The first instalment looks at when Willie Mullins knows the pecking order of his novices - including some suggestions on how to bet his novices at both DRF and Cheltenham.

Gutting for connections and for racing fans in what had looked a cracking match up with Majborough. Hopefully Sir Gino will make a full recovery
Unfortunately Sir Gino’s situation has deteriorated somewhat and he has been admitted to the Equine hospital. As a result of initial examinations at Donnington Grove an infection has invaded the ligaments in his near hind leg. This will require lengthy treatment that will sadly rule him out of any further racing this season. This is a dreadful blow to Joe & Marie Donnelly and everybody at Seven Barrows but we will be doing everything possible to help this incredible bright light back to full fitness next season.

100% agree re moving Cheltenham & Aintree further apart Re "Gr1 horses used to run 3 weeks apart, why can't they now?" question - ground is impt Cheltenham used to be a sound surface, even in the Champion Chase horses are finishing tired on the prevailing testing ground now
