Hi folks our apologies the ferry is off for a while we have had a major incident. A lady drove her car at speed into the river. Fortunately our skipper went in and dragged her out so no one was hurt.
We need to get the car removed and will update asap

It was a beautiful day down at the ferry and could have been a dark one but thanks to Dons quick thinking and actions it turned out well.
Donald was operating a ferry when he saw a car enter the water. Donald entered the water and removed a woman from the car. His courageous actions resulted in the rescue of the woman from a clearly life-threatening situation

It was an eventful day for the Renfrew ferry team today. On the road a wee dog was attacked by a big dog who had a death grip on his throat and chest and despite all the kicking and hitting with things that a crowd of people were doing the big dog wouldn't let go.

Hi folks we had to put the ferry out of service for half hour this morning to assist the rescue services. It turned out to be Mrs Seal having a nice belly up bask in the sun in the middle of the river👍good on ye! 😂

Hi folks well you know how all the stuff floats in on the Yoker side.. we had a big clear up yesterday. Picked all the plastic out first and it’s away for recycling. A big thanks to Paul from Calamity Kayaking for his help with that yesterday. Here’s a before and after.

Good morning. Just an update. Although our normal passenger base has stopped using the ferry due to the restrictions We are still finding that quite a number of medical staff and other NHS support workers are using the ferry every day. Therefore we want to try keep running

Good morning folks were just at taking a short 10 mins break to assist an injured seagull. We take any sick or injured wildlife to The Hessilhead wildlife sanctuary where they do everything they can to help our wildlife. They provide an amazing service.

Hi folks we have had a lot of messages about wee Toby the dog. His owner just got in touch and sent some pics. He is out and of the hospital and back home he had some very substantial injuries but he survived. Pretty sore but he's a plucky wee soul.

Well folks we had this old pedalo up in the yard at the ferry, and we had the bright idea of discretely dragging it down to the Clyde and having a go to see if it still worked. Despite out utmost discretion we were spotted dangit! 🙄😂

The passenger liner Azamara Journey is passing Girvan at the moment heading to pick up 2 tugs at Greenock before transiting the channel up to Glasgow.

Hi folks a big gust of wind caught the back end of the boat and grounded it at Yoker Not to worry though the other boat is in service for rest of the shift.
The main boat was due a hull inspection next week so I guess it's come early.😁👍🤸

We had some sad news recently. 2 of our regular doggy passengers Tina and Evie passed away within a short time. We get lots of doggy passengers but this mum and daughter were really special. For a fox terrier unusually Evie would play with the baby fox that came into her garden🥰

Hi folks we have a big problem. The driver has come down to start the shift and there’s very thick fog.
The rule is that we can’t sail if we can’t see the other side. We are going to have to wait till it’s daylight to see how it is. We apologise but this was not forecast!

Hi folks it’s getting too wild to operate we are really struggling to get out of Yoker, the gusts are so strong so we are going to finish a bit early. All of the regular passengers are across.

Hi folks we are on the lowest tide we have ever seen. The angle on the ramp is too steep to embark or disembark so we are goi g to have to put the ferry off for approximately 45 minutes till it’s safe. We can’t even get in at Yoker as the ferry is grounding.

Important Notice
Hi folks we are having to put the ferry out of service till we clean up the Yoker slipway. There has been a pollution incident and the tide is going out depositing millions of tiny grease balls on the slipway. It’s treacherously slippery.

Other boat back in action. How it works is that if one is out of service the other is a backup.
With up to a 1000 gear changes a day gearboxes do fail. We keep a large selection of parts in stock as well so the one that is out of action is immediately repaired.

So this clown keeps bringing in his dogs to the yoker side and training his dogs to rip apart liferings that are hanging up. He legs it before the ferry can get across to collar him. The dogs look most unhappy he has to literally drag them in.

Hi folks there’s an issue for the driver seeing anyone waiting on the yoker in the dark. We fitted a solar powered light in the shelter but it didn’t even last a day before it was stolen. The best thing to do is stand front of the shelter with the transparent panel at your back.

Mon - Sat 6.30am - 6.30pm
Sunday 10am - 6.30pm. We are still looking after workers heading home or starting shifts. Thank you for your understanding and a big thanks for your continued loyalty to your local wee ferry across the Clyde.

Good evening folks a bit of bad news we are having to put ferry off tomorrow as tonight we grounded it to do some essential overnight work and unfortunately the person driving tomorrow slipped on a patch of ice outside the gate and had a bang on the head. He’s in A&E just now.

Hi folks we’re a bit concerned about the weather in the morning. It’s forecasting very strong gusts up to 50mph. That’s a problem for the ferry. We will come down at 5am have a look at actual conditions and let you know well in advance if there’s an issue.

Hi folks just an update the driver had a severe concussion and had a scan at the hospital but no fractures or brain bleeds so sent home to rest. At the moment we are gritting all over the place but it’s not melting the ice yet on the Yoker side.

Hi folks there's a major incident with lots of police etc in attendance at the renfrew side. Not sure what it is but place taped off by police, however you can still access the ferry by sticking to the pavement on the right hand side approaching the slipway
