@11975MHz @M0RD3N @Milhous42243003 Dude... I've shipped games for the amiga, mega drive, zx spectrum and most recently neo geo. I've also disassembled arcade games and even an msx one. But fair enough I have no idea what I'm talking about. Laters.

@11975MHz @M0RD3N @Milhous42243003 Dude, was a wrong choice of words to begin with. Of course ram is ram! The point remains though, you cannot edit the pixels of a sprite as it is stored in rom which is why a game like worms is impossible.

@speedbreaker26 Yeah, its called overrunning the vblank. Simply cannot push enough of the sprites into vram before the display begins. Nowt to do with your retrotink, just couldn't get it fast enough.

@11975MHz @Milhous42243003 So.. worms works because the play field is a destructible bitmap. It works on the md and snes because you load/build sprites into vram with the cpu. The neo geo however, all sprites are stored in rom, read only, so cannot be modified.

@11975MHz @Milhous42243003 Both of those systems have addressable vram which can be manipulated into a framebuffer. The neogeo.. does not.

@Ludoscience @furrtek @ShadowGangs It's OK, found a solution. Was playing the last track on disc straight after load. Seems the extended seek time caused the BIOS VBlank interrupt to never yield back mine. Just re-arranged the track order on disc and now everything is happy :D

@Michael_Mirs @miztlur I checked out the PC Engine CD soundtrack and I gotta say..... I don't like it one bit. It sounds like the background music from a cheap 80s restaurant.

@ChaddyBones @FiPE_ZOE Dont worry, I wont leave the poor ninja to fester in its minor bugs for too long.
