I mean, who’s been in charge over the last thirty years whilst allowing this narrative to take hold!
As somebody who doesn’t think this country is racist, far from it in fact, and did fight for their country, as a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, it’s shocking to me to see young people who’ve been brought up to hold such a negative view of Britain.

@CultureChangeW1 @EternalJNCO I can appreciate both views here. But, this was predicted when the SCR started. Significantly so for the reserve component. As for the poor training, again, this is representative across all of society now. No one wants to push training, there’s very little pride and care in work

Proper ‘fess. Just like they used to be!
On a day off, after dropping the wife off at work, I saw an unusual lorry on the motorway. I was intrigued to where it was going. 80 miles later, still following & thought I cant back out now. Ended up in Scotland. It was a tough one to explain to the wife. Thinks I'm cheating

@BO3673 Same reason we have any physical entry standard (or used to!). If people want it, they train for it. More so in a physically demanding job

@M7APR Many things that I’ve seen from The two careers (three if you count this) that we’ve shared show me where we are poor and at best amateur. Potential for such a great job let down by the soft bigotry of low expectations (stolen shamelessly from @NotThatBigIan, not sorry!)

@M7APR TRiM is poor, in fact I’d say non existent. Had an incident two weeks ago that I’m still waiting on either the PO(FLM for us) or the TRiM to acknowledge.

@Gallofunky You’re not looking very hard or your so far down the Indy route like (what was at the time a parody) McGleshin from Absolutely, they avoid any meaningful debate with you.

@melspence2 @Niven_Rennie No, the fourth order is rehabilitation/Opportunity. You can’t have that without Custody, Order and Control first. Until those three are secure, the rehabilitation is a pipe dream.

@Niven_Rennie If you compare, for instance HMP LowMoss and BarL they’re night and day. Interestingly, they’re almost the same in outcomes. In fact, the violence is higher at LM than BarL and it’s the newer more humane facility.

@NotThatBigIan Garbage in = garbage out for a HCR20v3, SARA, VRAG etc. I’ll bet my house that there were opportunities for objective notes that weren’t put in, thus the risk is “lowered”.

@tiredverytired @NPorter_ @unlockedgrads I quite enjoy my current role. If, however my training had only been of that at the training school (and not what I brought over from the police) I’d have drowned and walked.

@tiredverytired @NPorter_ @unlockedgrads Having done both as you know, I’d have to disagree. But that’s the beauty of the current world we live in. We can!

@tiredverytired @NPorter_ @unlockedgrads It’s nonsense. The whole notion of prison has forgotten Custody, Order, Control, Opportunity. With opportunity as the 4th order, not the first. That’s what’s went wrong with too many grads (and I say that as someone with three degrees).
