I’m actually offended by how many people think Jamaicans are worried or jealous and that’s why a Jamaican newspaper reported it first. Baby, we just love people business.

Listen, I will take the concerns of Black Brits taking acting’s roles from AA seriously once AA let Caribbean people & Black Brits to play themselves and stop butchering accents and languages.
Fam, non-Caribbean people (please note I did not say non-Caribbeans) love dashing “dutty whine” in any and everything. Once this asked me if I was Jamaican, I said yes and he responded “DUTTY WINE”...where do we go from here, where?!
I have no pictures of myself in my teen years because I was so insecure. I thought I was ugly and needed make up to look feminine. Photoshoots are fun. I will have more.
So for my Visual Cultures module assignment, I’ve decided to analyse this photo of

di ppl dem tink seh a joke 💃🏿🇯🇲 500 words isn’t enough.
Some days, I feel to open a Caribbean restaurant, not Jamaican but CARIBBEAN. Make it a hub for true lovers of Caribbean culture, food, music, literature, maybe even organising. Too many culture vultures dominating.
I need a graphic designer/illustrator to work on the graphics for my social justice campaign. This is paid work. Preferably UK based. Suggestions are very welcome 💕💕
What I don’t need to see? Is another article by a Black Brit rediscovering the Caribbean. Coming to tell us they were shocked to find history, culture and beauty.
@hadleyogarro
The other day she we tryna comfort someone and she said something like “he hasn't tried it with me so don't worry”💀💀 she's not the one at all
I’d like to thank God,
@TrueTube
@tobyfilm
& director Adam. Thank you to all those who told me I was ugly, too dark, hair too nappy, nose too big & lips too full. A special thanks to all those who deny the existence of colourism. I dedicate the award to my little sister💕
The way two dark skin girls get treated can vary depending on hair texture, whether they have an hour glass figure or certain facial features. Argue with your mother xxx
I wrote a whole article abt how I no longer want praise for not wearing make up & being natural. I don’t care anymore. Some guy in the USA searched for my Facebook page, messaged me saying he read my article & felt he should let me know HE loves that I’m natural.
So much is happening. One year missing from Beenie and Krystal relationship. Amari a mek her move. Krystal was in the “Straight Jeans and Fitted” magic video? The silence from D’Angel is deafening.
🏠Moved out of my mother’s house
👩🏿💻Started what is arguably a dream job
👨👩👧👦Reconnected with estranged family
I could go on. We give thanks each and every day. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

I am shook. This is a slide from one of modules I did last year. We never learnt about colourism or Alkaline. After I finished the module. I sent my lecturers my documentary to watch and now I’m seeing this. 😭😭😭😭
Man dem there’s nothing cute about your face or hands moving more than your waist when you’re catching a whine. Your hips aren’t moving but you’re wiping off imaginary sweat?
I’m convinced as a dark skinned black woman you have to have a) long ass hair/big bloodclaat Afro, b) hour glass figure & a big bum and c) constantly be half naked and oiled up otherwise you’ll be masculinised in some way. All Bria did was cut her hair.
A older woman in my family was squeezing a pimple/bump/acne whatever you call it on my sister’s face. My sister (she was like 13) shouted “ouch” and the family member responded, “well, that’s how sex and child birth is so stop complain”. I was 9 and so very confused
If I am being completely honest a lot of people of Jamaican descent that I’ve interacted with don’t know their culture and history. The problem arises when they are quite misinformed and represent the island. Because then, non-Jamaicans want to tell us about ourselves. 🙃
Call me a gatekeeper but real activism isn’t always fun or cute. Most of my family and friends do not support the work I do. The alienation that happens? It’s so mentally draining.
So a while back, I came across
@GemJamGym
twitter & I followed him purely because his name is similar to mine. He followed bk & we became cool. I can confirm his name is pronounced the same as mine & we had a hell time interacting, especially cuz we both speak in the third person
Bmt Tier 4? My friends wanted to link me. One is an international student who I haven’t seen since he arrived. I had dates lined up as well. I’ve been in my yard, losing my mind.
Told my mum I won at award for my activism and that I need her to collect it at the House of Lords. How can she say, “WOIIII mi ago dress stripper style”. We stan an apologetic Jamaican queen tho.
