The Jets will face $49M in dead money when they eventually release Aaron Rodgers. They can take the full hit this year or, more likely, designate him as a post-6/1 cut. As a 6/1 cut, they’d carry his $23.5M cap hit until June 1, when it drops to $14M—saving $9.5M. However, they’d then absorb a $35M cap hit in 2026.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a ‘Thank you Rodgers’ post. The outcome is shitty and the dude knows that. He still fought his way to the Jets specifically, and from every interview you can tell how badly he wanted to be the one to turn it around.

@rariles13 This is fair, I think I’m just not in agreement that ‘25 should be punted. It would have been nice to see the roster we’ve watched the last couple years with a new regime. There’s no way they can say they’ll compete better in ‘25 with anyone other than Rodgers under center
