Turning everything I learnt about
#grief
into a book was not an easy process, but it's one i'm immensely proud of. If you've read it already, please do leave a review in the usual places, it really helps spread the word 📕❤️
It's
#FathersDay
tomorrow and if yours is dead, it can be a very tough reminder of how much you miss them. I want to say THANK YOU to these companies for making it easy for customers to opt-out of F.D. marketing emails. It's easy to do, you made the time, thank you...
Just thinking of you griefsters and how anxiety making this all is. Feel free to add to this tweet a lovely thread of podcast episodes that cheered you right up. Also i had a baby and he's lovely thank you x
In 2016 I thought maybe some people would like to hear other people talk about grief. I promised myself I'd do 52 episodes at least. One for each week of the terrible 1st year. If you have listened, tweeted, talked, messaged or just laugh-cried with me and my guests. Thank you.
'You don't get over grief, you just learn to have it as part of your life.'
This analogy of how we deal with bereavement is spot on.
BBC Stories: Like Minds on BBC iPlayer:
I don't know what to say anymore, if you're already trying to negotiate grief after what we've lived through, if you've missed all your rituals that would have helped you. I'm sorry, i'm sorry this government doesn't think of you. Some of us do, you are not alone.
🎄Merry Christmas to you Griefsters, whatever that means for you these days, however you feel, it's only a day and it too shall pass. Pull the duvet over your head or welcome the world into your home, but find the peace you need. Much love ❤️
Having spent the last couple of weeks fighting the urge to knock over every Mother's Day card display I see at the end of every single checkout, this was a very thoughtful (though admittedly slightly painful) email to receive today.

So, it's here. My genuine advice fort today is be kind to yourself, take a lot of breaks from social media and remember you're not alone ❤️💜💙

I am delighted to announce this deal. After a heated 15x way auction,
@ladycariad
will be published by
@BloomsburyBooks
for her searing part memoir/part manifesto YOU ARE NOT ALONE, based on her award winning podcast
@thegriefcast
:
Hey Griefsters, i hope tonight + tomorrow are as peaceful as they can be, given the circumstances. Thank you so much for all your kind words, support + help this year. It's a shit club to join but it is full of excellent people. Much love Cariad x🎄💜
✨Whatever you need to do to get through this bit, do it. Whether that's mainlining Season 3 of The American Office (having seen it a thousand times before) 👋 eating chocolates or just pulling the duvet over your head, remember you're not alone, it will pass, somehow it will ❤️
If you are a company and you are sending marketing emails for
#FathersDay
without an opt-out, I don't think your marketing department are doing enough. If
@Tesco
@BloomandWild
@thortful
@asda
and so many more can make the effort, why haven't you?
It's nearly over. Now a year off getting emails about it at least. I hope today passed as easy as these things can for those of us in the
#DDC
Much love to you. I'm probably going to end the day with a tub of Ben&Jerrys + an episode of Queer Eye.
It's that time again
#FathersDay
is looming. So far, I've seen
@BloomandWild
@asda
@superdrug
have all offered opt-out emails. So, it must be fairly possible for them ALL to do it. Shout out please to the other good companies who are offering it at this time

The grief from her mum's victim impact statement will stay with me for some time. love to those who knew her, love to those who are now scared, love to all of us just walking home. ❤️
#SarahEverard
Sorry i haven't been on here much, life with a new baby is fairly crazy. But also i feel (as i'm sure so many of you do) i find this situation tricky. Obviously it IS TRICKY (like typing one handed with a baby stuck on your left arm) but also it's GRIEF everywhere. 1/6
If Dominic Cummings isn't gone by the end of today,
@BorisJohnson
is insulting every grieving relative I have had to call to explain why they can't visit their dying loved one in hospital. Every distraught family member not at a funeral. Every frontline carer risking their life.
To everyone in
#DDC
sending you much love for tomorrow - as ever my main advice is
1)stay off social media, it's usually triggering
2)do something they would have liked
3)do something you want to do
The simpler, the better. Good toast + nice jam, a walk, a sit, a cup of tea ❤️
My dad would have been 70 today. No idea why the ending in 5 and the ending in 0 numbers get me but they do. Woke up convinced it meant nothing, by 11, realised i was sad, felt annoyed i had to do some grieving when i didn't really want to, managed to let in a bit...
So if you missed me saying on this week's episode, i'll try and be on here tomorrow to help with
#FathersDay
but if you're feeling crap do use the hashtag
#YouAreNotAlone
or even
#DDC
and let's try and look after each other where we can ❤️❤️
Hey griefsters, i have covid, it very much sucks. Got it the day after my booster too for extra fun. i just wanted to wave to all of us stuck in at Christmas who can't see our people, my plan is to make my 5-year-old watch the extended edition LOTR, should be fine...

#GriefAwarenessWeek
and i heard this today on R4 and it stopped me in my kitchen. Please have a listen to a beautiful human talking about his beautiful son. Thank you
@robdelaney
for sharing ❤️
We've been hearing from artists and writers about moments in their lives that brought comfort, while the world is a bit bleak. For Grief Awareness Week, we heard from actor, comedian and writer
@robdelaney
, about how his perspective on hope changed, after losing his son
#R4Today
If you lost someone during this crisis, to covid or not, the ongoing
#suegreyreport
is not just offensive, thoughtless - it is painful. It's getting harder to be staggered by their behaviour, but don't fall for the overwhelm trick. This was terrible behaviour.
Oh griefsters, it's finally here. All my years of grief, the podcast, a pandemic.. it's here. Everything I wish I had known at 15, everything I've learnt about grief along the way. You can pre-order
@Waterstones

Just my yearly shout out to all members of the

After what has been a surprisingly okayish Christmas, I had a moment today in SuperStore. Saw a lady who reminded me of my 92yo grandma, who even in the early stages of dementia, completely understood that my mom died.
I thought I’d share the Ball in the Box analogy my Dr told me

Ep.6 of
@QueerEye
(Elrod&Sons) got me last night, a really brave + honest look at
#grief
, especially thanks to
@jvn
. I actually whooped to hear someone say it's not simple, it's not about moving forward, it's not easy. Thank you thank you Jonathan for not making it a fairy tale.
This very wonderful women who deserves none of this. Every griefster knows wholeheartedly that life is too short to do anything but spread love where you can. LOVE to Sali + her family right now ❤️
Oh Griefsters, i just had a glance at the Amazon reviews, thank you SO MUCH if you left me a beautiful review. You are the best bunch of internet people there is. It's been such a weird and hard process putting this book out, I have really struggled the last few weeks, so truly
I've certainly had terrible anxiety leading up to an anniversary, doesn't pass until day is over normally but then ok once i've got through it. Other griefsters?
Hey 👋
@thegriefcast
wondering if any other club members felt like they kept having low level panic attacks/felt low level anxiety (physiologically)leading up to the year anniversary?It’s the only first whereby the only thing that makes it noteworthy is the loss,making it tough.
At The Loss Foundation, we know how lonely it can be when you have lost a loved one to cancer. Experience tells us how helpful it can be to talk to someone who "gets it". Sign up for a 1-2-1 phone conversation with someone like you.
Going through emails and i keep finding ones from
@kimberleystjohn
. Some plain admin and some just nice words. One from October last year. You never know how much longer you have do you? Oh Kim, you were a very lovely thing. Tell those you love you love them please.
Lit some candles (always light the candles!) and it stopped being such a grumpy grief and turned into a fairly small sad one. Love to everyone with birthdays, anniversaries or just holidays griefs at this time of year. You Are Not Alone. ❤️
Take it at your own pace. The first few weeks will be a blur. Sleep, eat nice food, if you got dressed congratulate yourself, if you're still under the duvet, also congratulate yourself. Don't expect anymore than emotion. Much love to you xxx
I've had a few messages about the next series, it is coming, i promise, i've been recording but am finishing the book at the same time so probably won't be back till April. Will shout very loudly when i'm back x
❤️This week I'm talking to the incredible stand-up
@MrEdByrne
about his brother, Paul. Ed bravely spoke to me just 3 months after Paul's death, so this is a very raw
#grief
chat, I felt honoured to share with him. We also talked about who gets to make the jokes...
❤️Happy New Year Griefsters, i hope you got through midwinter festivals with some peace and not too much sadness. Thank you for all the lovely messages about the end of series 5 (and for listening to the intro!) Will shout very loudly when we have a new series later this year.❤️
🧠 Don't miss this week's episode where I talk to psychotherapist, author + broadcaster
@Philippa_Perry
about her friend Bonnie. 💜As ever we talk grief, the jokes only that person understands + winning the races in your dreams. 🎧
The book had a party
@BookBarUK
to celebrate its existence. It demanded a choc cake + amazing people, as it’s very demanding. Thank you SO much if you’ve bought it, shared it or just sent me a lovely message, it means so much to me to know it’s been helpful 💗

Hey griefsters, i am so so so sorry to hear there was an advert playing with a baby crying in it during an episode about baby loss.
@acast
are aware and have removed it but if anyone has been effected, please know i'm so bloody sorry.
Every time i refer to Griefster's in my book, auto correct changes it to Grifters, which is a very different form of advice book that i'm not qualified to write.
❤️ Still a bit staggered, it's here and it exists... and i'm so lucky that some brilliant people have said some wonderful things about it too...you can pre-order now (which really helps in that important 1st week) Thank you! ❤️
'10 days till Father's day...!' oh is it?????? Well it's 20 years since he died so maybe i don't need an email with car shaped chocolates and cricket themed ties, thanks babes.
