2024 saw the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Mission Shaped Church, a crucial report in identifying and celebrating the work of pioneers across the country. To mark this occasion, CCX set out to examine the contemporary landscape pioneers are navigating. Listening to the Voice of the Pioneer highlights seven significant findings from the experiences of pioneers, and shares actions the Church can take to better support them. Our hope is that this research demonstrates the gift that this unique group of leaders is to the Church, as they create Christian communities among those with little or no connection with the established Church. 'Our most important recommendation for church leaders: If church leaders want to promote the spiritual formation of 18- to 35-year-olds, the most effective thing they can do is to help them find community. But not just any community.' We’re delighted to share our latest research findings, presented by @eidoresearch. You can find the full research report at

The Church is seeking innovation in spiritual formation and disciple-making - disciples that make disciples, growth that multiplies. How do we do this well? What are the practices that grew us as followers of Jesus? Who helped us to bear fruit? How do our churches root us in Jesus and his Kingdom, enabling us to grow fruitfully? The fruitful formation of disciples is foundational to CCX’s vision – to see the whole Church built up and sent out in love, to plant and grow churches that equip all Christ’s people for his work. That’s why CCX commissioned Eido to lead research into what is helping people to grow in Christ-likeness, making disciples and enabling multiplication. We’re delighted to share our latest research findings, which we pray will enable creativity, innovation, and focus on disciple-making across the whole of the Church. You can find the full research at

'I read the description and burst into tears… because they might as well have substituted the name "Pioneer" for "Aleka".' Aleka is a lay pioneer minister based at All Saints & Holy Trinity in Dalston, London. Her call to pioneering has been one of 'keeping things simple', of discovering those places outside of church where her gifts and talents can naturally shine as she shares the good news of Jesus Christ.

A new church on the Orchard Grove housing development in Somerset has seen its numbers more than double in just a few weeks! Led by Jon and Imogen Ball, Orchard Grove Church launched in September 2024 with a team of 15 adults and 2 children. By November, they were welcoming 30 adults and 7 children regularly to their informal, contemporary gatherings. This new church is already making a difference in a growing community that will eventually have 2,000 homes. With outreach like a coffee bike pop-up cafe and plans for Advent, Jon shares his vision: “My prayer is to see God’s kingdom here—this church growing in depth, faith, love, and number, becoming part of the fabric of the community.” 👉 To read the full story visit: #ChurchPlant #ChurchOfEngland

In 2022, when 100 people signed up for a Christmas Messy Church, leader Anne Scott and her team knew they were on to something good. Since then, Messy Church has gone from strength to strength, gathering families once a month to worship together. Two more gatherings have since started – Mossy Church (‘a church without walls’ meeting outside) and Café Church – creating a pattern of three services each month. “We’ve had the privilege of walking with people through some really tough times. After an awful week, some have come simply happy to chat. We’ve become a safe space for conversation, offering support and prayer.” - Anne Scott 🎥 Watch the full video to hear Anne share how these gatherings are building strong relationships and helping people begin a journey of discipleship here: #ChurchOfEngland
