@HopeIsStillReal Oh my gosh yes, definitely come only when it feels super safe! It was for sure slippery a lot of places in the area with temps that low this weekend--I had a pretty treacherous drive back from Oklahoma to Indiana on Saturday the day before

@HopeIsStillReal Oh not silly at all, I didn't include the link to the kindle store as links tend to get so buried here now...I never know the best way to do stuff like that now! It's right here:

Some things just go together, like Batman and Robin, peanut butter and jelly, Laurel and Hardy. I am happy to be Robin & all the lesser things in this scenario, LOL! As much as Brian Zahnd also loves Advent, how could it be too soon for another collab?! On the latest Zeitcast, we explore Advent themes of hope, waiting, and the larger significance of the church calendar. We talk about how the harsh realities of the little town of Bethlehem shape the contours of the story, then and now, and why we need more Mary in our lives. We emphasize the non-prescriptive nature of Advent as a time to wait for God to act, not for us to “act right”/do more. We also talk about the tension between longing-as Advent is a time to fully acknowledge the ways the world is not yet made right-and yet also how it is a time to make space for joy. Oh and course, we also talk about Nick Cave and Bob Dylan. I love Brian’s Advent book The Anticipated Christ, definitely pick it up! Also, today (12/4) is the last day The Book of Waiting is free on the kindle store! “Waiting on the anticipated Christ,” a brazen mash-up of our book titles, is up now 😂, via the Zeitcast YouTube channel, and wherever you listen to audio podcasts. #advent #christmas #theology

@HopeIsStillReal I'm so sorry I just now saw this! Oh I am DEEPLY grateful this landed in such a deep place in you...the idea that God is simply present, not explaining, not "in control", not managing, but fully present to our pain...sometimes that is all there is.

A free gift for you! For the start of Advent, I’ve decided to make the ebook of The Book of Waiting: Reflections on Advent & Christmas available for FREE, today (Monday)—Wednesday only! I believe in living into the longing that Advent embodies. I believe that your own waiting is not wasted. I believe that honoring this kind of consecrated time actually changes the temperature in our lives, & in our communities. I simply want to get this deeply personal passion project into people’s hands. I’d appreciate it if you’d help me spread the word—and if the book does speak the language of your own soul, reviews are super helpful. But mostly I hope this will help you carve out space in you to enter into more deeply into your own longing. Head on over to the kindle store & get yours now free, while you can!

This is the Batman cover I referenced in my post today…isn’t it fantastic? So ominous. Picking it up and carrying it home at 8 years old felt dangerous & exciting #batman

Oh this is interesting! See I have a sentimental attachment to that text because it was important to my dear grandmother, but I find almost every OTHER verse in proverbs entirely inaccessible to me—so much so that I preached a sermon on job awhile back in which I was dunking on proverbs so hard, I thought I might have actually gone too far 😂
