I voted Green. I can't support Starmer. A backstabbing two faced con man and friend of The Sun. His backing of Genocide in Gaza and treatment of Corbyn etc ..call me idealist Rob but there has to be a line. This is the first time in my life I've not voted Labour
Some people are so riddled with idealism and angst I wonder how they get out of bed. I'd like therefore to thank everyone who has tirelessly leafletted and canvased for Labour and done all the other drab and thankless work that actually matters and yes, makes a difference. x
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing, following a brief illness, of Terry, our beautiful friend, brother and one of the most brilliant singers, songwriters and lyricists this country has ever produced. (1/4)
enough of Captain Tom please..great man no doubt..but the BBC etc are going hard on the sentimentality and canonisation ..the point is he shouldn't have had to raise that money in the first place.
Thankyou all so much for tonight. Its fun to revisit these records and thrilling to think that people are out there are still listening! Tim is a light.

The new album from Peter Capaldi ' St Christopher" on
@MonksRoadRecord
is avaliable for pre order here . Produced by Dr Robert it is out on Nov 19 and will be preceded by an edted version of the title track "St. Christopher" as the first single on Oct 15th
All time low. This lot are the worst of us. Worse than Thatcher . Immoral arrogant bare faced liars with blood on their hands. Let's bring them down and put them in the dock. Seriously. Total fuckers.
Dr.R I think its an incredible album. Full of mystery and joy and love and depth. A baroque masterpiece ? Fuck yeah. Lets do it again one day.x .

First person to ever play us on the radio back in 82' and gave us our first radio session on radio 1. We became friends. Truly saddened. A warm natural lovely lady. RIP x
We're excited to reveal that Paul's new single, 'Rise Up Singing', will be premiered on the
@BBCRadio2
Breakfast Show tomorrow morning .
Hear it for the first time around 0845 (BST)! 📻
PC: It’s Not Over Until It’s Over
I think might be about getting older. Escaping its expectations and constrictions. But in trying to, you might do stupid things… like making an album. But the truth is no one cares. So go right ahead.

PC:Take What You Need
This was the last thing I wrote for the album. We had seen such understanding and compassion in lockdown. And then the forces of selfishness and greed got going again. You know who you are.

Is about being famous. I go a bit Roy Orbison at the very end. I love Roy Orbison.
In a museum in Nashville I saw his shoes. They were tiny. Yet impossible to fill.

Played Wembley supporting Rod Stewart and ELO in 86'. Got boo-ed off for mentioning their then recent gigs in "Sun City" South Africa during the apartheid era during our 'tribute' version of "Do you think I'm Sexy" . Great gig. x
On the Musical A To Z this weekend
@BBCRadioLondon
we reach W & we’re celebrating Wembley Stadium & Wembley Arena (aka the Empire Pool).
We’d love to hear your memories of any magical, musical events that you’ve witnessed @ either the stadium or Arena & what made them special?
Getting back onstage for BBC radio 4 has been the so therapeutic for me, I genuinely didn’t think I could do it with the fatigue and chemo brain - did a whole HOUR! ❤️❤️❤️
Devastating news. Always loved Janice. I don't know if she realised how loved she was especially by musicians. She was totally natural ..very funny..and a proper champion of music. I will miss her.
I'll post a fitting tribute at a later date. For now I'll just say thank you Janice. You were a true friend who helped me at every opportunity. I love you unconditionally & will continue to do so. Thoughts and prayers with Paul and the children. Rock In Peace baby, Ix

PC: Beautiful and Weird.
A romance. That goes wrong. For various reasons.
The intro poem bit was a very late addition. But I liked it was spoken word. I am an actor after all. And an actor’s album should have some talk.
#petercapaldi
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
PC: I never expected to be making an album. I just liked playing with Dr Rob and talking about music.
I got to meet some of his associates when they were recording an album.
For fun, I wrote a song. They recorded it in a day. Bang.

#TimsTwitterListeningParty
1.FORBIDDEN FRUIT : This was a single just before ‘Digging” and I know a lot of people prefer it. It think it evolved out of one of Micks elastic bass lines and I added some “Postcard Records” jangle. I love
@EdwynCollins
and this definitely bears his influence.
PC: I can offer up some thoughts about what the songs might be about, but I don’t always know. Sometimes I do. But in the end they are whatever you think they are.

#TimsTwitterListeningParty
PC: Impossible Youth
Is the other end. Throughout lockdown I’d keep seeing these young people doing wonderful things. Teachers doing incredible work. Medical students. Doctors. Artists. Musicians. Full of life. Inspiring. Invincible. Impossible.
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
PC:A Little Bit of Class :
It started as a nostalgia song. Then I kept wondering about all the older people who were dying of COVID. Why did we never see or read anything about them? Were they being deliberately de-personalised? I believed so. So I made this about one of them.
PC: Take What You Need
I wanted a big guitar wall. Lots of guitars. But we could always do with more.
Feel free to join in/overdub/post. The chords are D A Bm G -ish.
So that’s the album. What now?
#petercapaldi
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
PC:I thought I’d like to do more of this. So I tried to write some songs. The way I did when I was young. i.e. with no idea how. But I kept trying. Many of them were terrible.But Rob thought some were ok. So we ended up here.
#petercapaldi
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
We continue to make new music. You can get involved with our new album out in Sept “Journey To You” here
and here’s the latest single Time Storm . Keep the faith x
PC:Take What You Need
I am so lucky. By an accident of birth. Geography. Timing. Not everyone is so lucky.
Then some people I knew got sick, These were accidents of birth too.

PC: The Great Magnificence
This might be fairy tale. Or a folk song. Kind of. I copied some folky chords. But I couldn’t leave them alone. I found this dirty big synth sound. In it went.
#petercapaldi
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
PC: St. Christopher
This is a kind of“Days of Wine and Roses”thing.There’s a couple, and they are very much in love, but something is in the way, drink or drugs or something. So do you let the relationship go?Or do you stay and fight for it?And forgive?
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
Dr R: Impossible Youth
Love the way he pronounces 'roared!' Lyrically he's so clever. No wasted words.
@CongaKing2020
excelled again. Lead Gtr at the end is Peter. We used a lot of his original solos. They are unique.
#petercapaldi
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
PC: In Every Face
Dr Robert’s guitar here is lovely. I wasn’t sure about the song. Then they added strings. Strings make everything sound better
#petercapaldi
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
Dr R: Little foreword. It was honour to work on these songs. Peter put his trust in me and I didn't want to let him down. He's a very kind and caring soul. I hope it came out ok.

Sinead O’Connor just died. She was heavily criticized in 1992 for tearing up a picture of Pope John Paul II on Saturday Night Live, condemning of paedophilia in the Catholic Church. She was right all along.
PC: St. Christopher He had been a Saint from the middle ages. He was the saint of looking after people on their journeys through stormy waters. Then the Church decided he wasn’t real. (!) But he couldn’t be erased. Because people liked the idea of him. So he survived.
Some people say Noel’s a canny operator who dials up the juicy soundbites when he has a new album out. But if selling more records means selling to the sort of folk who cheer utterances like “Prince Harry is coming across like a typical fucking woke snowflake”, what’s the point?
PC: Atlanta Vacant Lot
As I’ve said, I don’t really know how to write songs. So I just try different methods. this attempt I made was just observations of Atlanta. I wrote down what I saw, “Beauty shop and nails” etc.
#petercapaldi
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
PC:A Little Bit of Class
This was about being a kid in the 60s, sing songs, all of that stuff. So I like that we had kind of period strings and old fashioned electric organ on it -thank you so much Mick Talbot.
#petercapaldi
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
PC:Then it began to morph into something else. Rob put swampy guitars on it. My apartment in Atlanta looked down on this empty lot. It was fenced off. All around it was busy. But the fenced off lot looked like the loneliest place on earth.

#TimsTwitterListeningParty
Dr.R:In Every Face
I had to convince Peter to stick with this but I think its one of the strongest on the album.Traces of Scott. Ben Trigg nails the string arrangement again.I had to record the guitar without Peter in the room. It worked
#petercapaldi
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
Dr R: Take What You Need
Peter knew what he wanted on this. Sparse synth groove explodes into a bonfire of guitars played by the man himself the way only he could play them. A triumph.
#petercapaldi
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
DIGGING YOUR SCENE We recorded a version with Jam producer Pete Wilson and he wrote some fantastic strings for it. RCA sent me over to NYC to try a remix at Arthur Bakers studio Unique.I thought i was going to work with Arthur but in fact wound up with
#timstwitterlisteningparty
2. I tried to do a slide guitar part but the engineer said “my dad playes good slide” Next day in strolls the one and only Joe Brown! The guy who played with Eddie Cochran..and so much more
PC: Impossible Youth
I think Rob did a great job on this. I loved his bass and the guitars and the sax .I like all the guitars. And all that stuff. And Nev’s brilliant sax intertwined with the guitars.
#petercapaldi
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
Dr R: Beautiful and Weird
Its a classic opening track. The spoken word is beautiful and sets up the whole album. Its puts me in mind of a doomed young 'goth' couple sitting outside a Spar supermarket in some forgotten Welsh village

Thanks for all the B'day greetings. Big news about a new single for the summer coming soon..in the meantime here's Have No Roots from Reals Of Gold. Stay safe..all will pass x
Dr R: The Great Magnificence
Peter had a vision for this. I just followed his nose. He played a lot of the synths too..I just fixed and embellished his GarageBand demos. Magic Farfisa from magic Mick.

Happy New Year to you all. 21' has been a difficult year for all. Constantly reminded of those brave souls who risk everything to help others. The highest calling. Personally ..thanks for the tour/Journey To You /St Christopher reception. And Tuchel for CL ! X
A word about the album sleeve. They changed the colour of my eyes and shaved my cheekbones and I think some people thought they were buying an album by a-ha ! The boppers soon sussed us out when they saw us live
#timstwitterlisteningparty
Thanks for the B'day wishes yesterday everyone. 62 now but feeling fine and lucky to have such beautiful loved ones in my life. Plenty of music flowing and so much to sing about!..see you down the road xxx
Dr R: In Person
Feature the super funky Crispin 'The Pump" Taylor on drums. A celebrity culture banger with knowing lyrics and pumping bass.
#petercapaldi
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
Dr R: St. Christopher
Slow burn killer groove from Crispin. Lyrically its magical. Sad and lovely and empathetic and caring with a touch of ice in its veins. Just as it should be. Beautiful sax from Jacko Peake
#TimsTwitterListeningParty
Played bass on this..was a pleasure to play with the Don of drums..we had some great times doin this live..in fact I think we pretty much recorded it live?..bit fuzzy around that time !
I live in Kings Lynn as a youth loved working with Beth on Pass In Time. Didn't have a to produce as such..just press record when she was was doing a run thru. a thrill to work with Terry Callier..getting all the Fred Neil gossip x

#TimsTwitterListeningParty
When I moved to Norfolk, I worried if I would be able to write songs - I remembered
@beth_orton
was from literally down the road and I felt a whole lot better. For the record, it’s a beautiful place to write songs. My new album, out Friday ; )

Yes John..he's done it again. Unique flavour to this album and thrilled that he re-recorded our co-write Rise Up Singing. Its still all about the the thrill of the new
Very rare is the artist who hits new peaks so far into a career and this album continues the climb. The final track Burn Out is one of the best things he’s ever recorded.
Worth remembering that, as he approaches his 66th birthday,
@paulweller
was 24 when he split The Jam.
Dr R: Atlanta Vacant Lot
I used drop D tuning on this to get a loose Neil Young-ish Gtr sound.Romy Deighton is
@deighton_matt
daughter. She's amazing. "Drifting vapour trails" another killer line
