A short introduction to the new followers Hi, I'm Ajay Kumar Mahato, a 21-year-old multidisciplinary designer, born and raised by a single mother in a small village in India where access to Wi-Fi is a luxury, and power cuts are frequent. I started out dreaming of becoming a cinematographer and ran a photography Instagram page, but soon found it wasn't for me. During the COVID lockdown, I was introduced to "meme competitions" in the crypto industry by a friend, which unexpectedly turned into a deep dive into photo manipulation and, eventually, design. At 18, I left my small village and began exploring freelance design, working with some of the top crypto communities for nearly five years. Along the way, all my clients turned into long term friends. In 2023, I was laid off from my full-time job, a moment that made me realize how fragile a career can be and pushed me to seek out communities, mentors, and design peers online. Now, I’m building my own agency, Man Made Designs, where we offer branding and design support to Startups and Personal Brands. I also dropped out of my UX design degree last year to focus on building real-world experience.
