o1 performs quite better with visual examples. The reasoning times are quite interesting tho.

This is a hard problem. There is not a lot of conceptual lefts or rights in internet visual data. Expecting a visual language model that was trained on images captions to understand spatial navigation is a big leap. Full chat here:

@chris_j_paxton @bevenky What is the delta here? Is it a lack of grasping data? Is it the architecture? Or is it kind of that nobody knows?

We are seeing more and more that tech-based moats are largely indefensible. Your model, hardware or algo is better? Likely a commodity in 1 year timeframe. Real moats? - Users - Economies of scale - Platformization Anything that becomes a center of gravity for a given use case.

I think AI has crossed the point where the models are far more powerful than the current use cases. Bullish on the application layer of AI.

@APompliano Yeah bro in a world where global trade was probably less than 10% of today’s numbers. Generally a fan but this was a very dumb tweet.

An interesting third-order consequence of this new era of U.S. trade policy is that it may be a huge forcing factor for developing countries. If the U.S. market is no longer open, if aid ceases, if the leader of the free world turns inwards, then all the countries that have historically held the U.S. as their biggest trade partner now need to figure it out on their own. Capitalism won the Cold War. Everybody knows this. The U.S. is tired of holding the West. The job is done. Now it is turning inward. Many of these countries will hurt in the short term. Plagued by corruption, weak economies, and crime. Long term a few will figure it out. El Salvador? Argentina? Colombia? Bearish short term, bullish long term.
