We are calling out the unacceptable and abhorrent phrase used in today’s Sunday Times listings around our productions of Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet. It devalues the work of RSC Artists and we will be formally responding to John Dugdale and Emma Tucker.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Maggie Smith’s passing.
Maggie made an extraordinary contribution to the profession, performing era-defining roles across stage and screen in a career that spanned over 60 years.
Our thoughts are with Maggie’s family and friends.
As of today our team has got even smaller. As it’s just me (my name’s Amy, hello) it may take me a bit longer to get back to your tweets at the moment. Thanks for bearing with me!
We are deeply saddened to hear that Haydn Gwynne has died.
Her last appearance at the RSC was in Angus Jackson's 2017 production of Coriolanus where she played the role of Volumnia.
Our thoughts are with Haydn’s family and friends at this very sad time.
It is with the greatest sadness that we share that the legendary Cicely Berry, part of the foundations of the RSC & its voice expert for more than 4 decades, has died. Our thoughts are with her family & friends. Artistic Director Greg Doran pays tribute.
We’re delighted to announce that Daniel Evans and Tamara Harvey will become the Co-Artistic Directors of the Royal Shakespeare Company from June 2023.
Hear from Daniel and Tamara, and Chair of the RSC Board Shriti Vadera: (1/5)
We are deeply grateful that His Majesty has accepted the Patronage of the Royal Shakespeare Company, succeeding The late Queen.
As our President, the Prince of Wales was an ardent supporter of our work - onstage, in the classroom and online. (1/2)

Our Artistic Director, Gregory Doran pays tribute to his life and work:
‘John Barton, a Shakespeare genius, a mentor, and I am proud to say, a friend’
We were saddened to hear of the death of Diana Rigg. Diana joined us in 1959 and appeared in a number of RSC productions through the years.

We’re saddened to hear of Glenda Jackson’s passing.
She was a tour de force in acting & politics, dedicating her life to both. We’re proud her extraordinary talent was seen on RSC stages early in her career in ground-breaking productions.
Our thoughts are with Glenda’s family.
📜 Today marks the 400th anniversary of the First Folio being published 🎭🎉
Without this first printed edition of Shakespeare's collected plays, we would have lost half of his dramatic work to history as many of the plays hadn't been printed before

From today, Stratford-upon-Avon is back in lockdown. To lift our spirits (and hopefully yours!) we'll be sharing a photo of an RSC moment every day.
We'll start with this socially distanced photo from Romeo and Juliet, 1947.
We are saddened to hear about the death of Michael Gambon.
Michael first worked with us in the 1970s before performing as King Lear to Antony Sher’s Fool in 1982, and brilliantly in The Unexpected Man in 1998 alongside Eileen Atkins.
Huge congratulations to Gregory Doran who received a Knighthood in the New Year's Honours last night for his work at the RSC over many decades and on Shakespeare – a wonderful way to end the year 👏🎉

Christopher Marlowe was killed in a pub brawl in Deptford, London. Was this a drunken fight, or was he murdered for being a secret agent, or a heretic?
