war with near-peer adversaries is usually decided by factories the us + allies won world war two because the us outproduced germany + japan. shipyards across the sf bay pumped out warships at record pace to aid the effort in the pacific. we no longer hold this advantage.
American weapons programs need to be completely redone. The current strategy is to build a small number of weapons at a high price to fight yesterday’s war. Unless there are immediate and dramatic changes made, America will lose the next war very badly.

@DanielleFong i think putin is a warmongering pos who started the war i want ukraine to win, and I want america to fund ukraine until it wins the only question to ask here is how many more ukranian lives can we write off for this? at the same time, what if we land in a hot war ourselves?

@politicsusa46 “EU can align with China” no, no it can’t you have next to 0 industries, a dying economy, and barring Poland, an underinvested military you have 3 choices: - stay the US’ vassal - become CCP vassal - deregulate, reindustrialize, and rise as your own power

@chrisprucha @mynamebedan which is scary when you actually think about it tesla is the most efficient mass manufacturing operation that we have

@decentralizedX1 @chrisprucha the alpha is keeping our manufacturing capability sir also in the limit, the cost of a 3D printer in america should be the same as in china if the material cost going in is the same the fact that its not is because of a combination of labor prices and network effects

@decentralizedX1 @chrisprucha as always, robotics + automation could do a lot here. while labor costs are a big problem, another big problem is the network at the same time by bringing the volumes onshore, you make it easier for others within the supply chain to build more advanced tech that you can then use

@chrisprucha beat the people’s republic at their own game. we may not have the manufacturing prowess anymore, but we control the unit of account

@carrynointerest it’s more like this asset class is becoming more democratized angels for getting started + strategic alignment is moving towards “enough” for a rev generating startup however, you still need VC for big bets/pre-rev startups

@sandeep_PT the state being the manifestation of people's will is just a misplaced ideal. the state is the problem. the state engages in crony capitalism at best and full-blown collectivism at worst. reject the state.

@DanielleFong @jcrichman yes, when we were the only dominant player in the market we no longer hold this advantage

@DanielleFong @jcrichman isn’t that already the meta in most countries though? i wish it weren’t but that is the reality, and by only american companies being banned from engaging in it, we lose out on markets

@DanielleFong @jcrichman bunch of potential second order effects yes, but shouldn’t it be upto that country to prosecute?

@Bossyphoe @bartvanbakel @DefiyantlyFree I disagree on Elon inheriting But even if you were to ignore him, Zuck, Sundar, Bezos, Kalanick, and a whole bunch of people at the inauguration were self made.
