The term "Sakugatards" was initially associated with inappropriate discussions related to animation. However, some people have made their job to compare CSM to any new "untraditional" looking anime, which is when it becomes a fitting description that screams visual illiteracy.

"The Battle of Heaven and Earth" is one of the most monumental sets of battles to ever grace the medium. The vast spectrum in which it unfolds certainly lived up to its name thanks to dir Hayashi's exceptional sense of cinematography & scaling, capturing the epic scope perfectly.

Now deep into the cuts themselves, it's nice seeing Yhwach's fire fists have actual effects and not the previous over composited digital effects like in cour 1. The second cut is interesting with its rotation and it looks like the action boards will be more promising than before.

I'm fond of the way these shots were storyboarded, and I'm sure they'll be more impressive with their context revealed. End of thread! I'll leave things here and continue with the weekly reviews when the episodes drop, see you then.

This is by far the best Mikasa design that we have ever had in AOT Tomohiro Kishi (岸友洋) has proven once again that he can compete with Kyoji Asano's (浅野恭司) , Satoshi Kadowaki's (門脇聡) and Wit's incredible makeup team (see ALT) Her soft features are simply gorgeous

Despite Mr Taguchi's knowledge, his current most famous work (Bleach TYBW) barely sees the light in this regard, and does not reflect this fact. In a span of 2 cours, consisting of 26 episodes, the number of character acting cuts doesn't exceed the fingers of one hand.

Dungeon Meshi is fun and all but so far in terms of Food Sakuga, last winter's Tondemo Skill is far better in this specific department (or even other ones too) So for anyone who wants to enjoy some Raw cooking animation (although it's rotoscoped) go watch the Real gourmet fantasy

SB: Daiki Harashina (原科大樹) The weekly dose of diverse layouts that do the job excellently, with a bit of (welcomed) serviceable angles are the team's quirk and they know their audience very well...

Considering Saito's more tranquil preferences in storyboard content, he handled the least raucous portions of the episode, paving the way for Wirbel's team to get into the next battles.

One significant issue that continues to persist is the poor quality of the in-between animation, which is a well-known problem at Pierrot due to them being notorious for not allocating enough resources from their in-house staff (Pierrot Drawing Room) for their tight productions.

Of all the previous uses of the shadow technique, this one is the most complex in terms of the ideas implemented in it. In addition to the zoom-out, which sets the stage for the event itself, we have a clever use of air effects to reflect the strength of the summoned characters.

And speaking of digital effects, this double edged approach cannot be deemed flawless when the entire drawings get lost in this highly saturated shiny particles that become annoying the longer they appear on screen, hoping for them not to turn into One Piece's controversial auras

Episode #24 was hype AF, one of the best boarded episodes in TYBW, and definitely the top one in the 2nd cour so far Amazing lore added to both Ichibe and Yhwach thanks to the well thought out extra content from Kubo, this man keeps proving his love & commitment to the franchise!

If you've been wondering about the destiny of the series' direction style after its strongest key component changed his role, minor cuts like these affirm that the quality is not decreasing whatsoever, as Taguchi's legacy is still present & ruling in the corners of the project.

Nevertheless, that doesn't mean that all drawings will suffer from lacking corrections because this is ironically one of #BLEACHTYBW 's excellent aspects, especially in still shots.

While Kubo is an insanely dedicated creator, it is important to acknowledge his true contributions without making him solely responsible for #BLEACHTYBW 's creativity. A thread correcting the misconception about him "storyboarding" key moments & the real name of this conduction🧵

18 pages of Kubo's storyboards for Senjumaru's bankai for #BLEACH TYBW Cour 2 EP26 have been revealed! They look amazing! If they release this fight as separate booklet in manga format it'd be a great addition to the volume releases! Kubo's work for the anime is pure perfection!

To be more specific, this ep's main problem was the COMPLETE reliance on manga panels for the SB, and believe me when I say that Kubo himself was the real storyboarder for this ep, not Sato lol It's a worrying sign of their lack of time, as their schedule is already very tight...

Satoshi Sakai's effects supervision is back as one of the show's core staff members, however Bleach won't be his only commitment in this fall since Shangri-La Frontier is coming with its 2nd season where it's expected for him to handle the series' action & effects direction too.

The fact that he was the only AD in the episode made him flex his strong drawing skills regarding closeups and the reflections in the eyes of the characters. Souso no Frieren really is making it look easy when just a season ago a certain 2 cour series was barely capable of airing

Arifumi Imai's innovative ability to translate the very ambitious and complicated action boards into such a powerful scene is pretty much unmatched... His understanding for the huge volume the scouts are dealing with, was shown through smart composition throughout this cut 👇

After watching Burn The Witch 0.8 special, I'm all for starting the propaganda of "that's how TYBW should've looked like"(just kidding) On a serious note, it's just impressive how a strong combination of all artistic departments easily crafted one of this year's best animated eps
