I have become a club dad
Encouraged some 21 year olds to go home cos they were too drunk.
Played 3 hours without needing to pee.
Found the guy who stole my phone and suggested he apologised.
Great night!
All of this music that I made is not available to stream or download anymore because
@dominorecordco
have removed it against my wishes. They have taken it down to try and stop the legal dispute we are involved in over the royalties they pay me.
It’s been way too long. My new album is coming July 22nd, it’s titled “When the Lights Go” and you can now officially pre-order it, so please do because it makes a huge difference : ) I’ll be signing the first 50 orders here
More people in the UK need to hear how much health insurance in America costs a month, how you still pay for medicine and care even with the best insurance, how it's still really hard to get an appointment with the person you need, how you end up negotiating in a doctors office
Some of these DJ only festival line ups are beginning to look extremely dry. Promoters have a creative responsibility to keep the music interesting and at least occasionally challenging. The same lineups worldwide has already done damage, please sprinkle in a little imagination
Tech house making exactly the same mistakes EDM did in 2013/14. Which I think is a shame - there are enough of the same people around, who experienced that bubble bursting, who could be encouraging something more sustainable..
I don't think musicians are going to be touring again for at least 18 months (hope I'm wrong). This is our opportunity to come together and reshape the music industry for the better. Perhaps now we will get public support in the fight for fair streaming royalties, for example?
Alright folks.
Don’t give a record label more than 50%.
Don’t sign anything longer than a 10 year licence.
Those are the worst terms you need to entertain. If you can’t find those, then start your own label.
I LOVE YOU
When I listen to electronic music with low play counts on Spotify and I let Spotify auto play the next tracks, within a few songs it plays me something that is very clearly ai made, from a fake artist.
Electronic music is the testing ground for obvious reasons. This is bad.
Superstar DJs playing normal shows right now don’t need the money. And definitely have nice speakers at home. And probably understand what a pandemic is. So are they just incredibly selfish attention addicts?
Happy Birthday Trouble, 10 years old this week 🌞💫✨
What a time, I’m very proud of everything this album achieved and the journey it took me on.
Tag a friend who was there, obviously!! And I hope some of you give it a listen this weekend.
Album news - “When the Lights Go” has a new release date of 9/9/22. I need a bit more time to get everything in place & have come up against some classic music biz problems. Feel free to deride me in the comments but forgive me in your hearts. New single this week! Any questions?
One of the daft punk boys came to my 33rd birthday. I also got a shopping bag of $10,000 in fake notes, and a birthday cake in the shape of a penis. One of my best birthdays!
I’m fully in
@FourTet
’s corner here. Look at how far labels will go to protect their shady and greedy streaming money. This industry is exhaustingly unfair. Love to Kieran
I’m so upset to see that
@Dominorecordco
have removed the 3 albums of mine they own from digital and streaming services. This is heartbreaking to me. People are reaching out asking why they can’t stream the music and I’m sad to have to say that it’s out of my control.
Billboard invited me to write a little about the music business. Here are some things I’ve learned over the years as an artist! Thanks for having me
@billboard
I want to DJ before midnight
The number of people who love dancing to these sounds vs the number of people who want to / can stay up late… I dunno 200:1 ?
Shout out to the goblins I love you, but 3am is a niche passion
The spotify money per stream rate was and is negotiated by record labels. They hold the keys to this situation, and the spotlight should be on them. They've just had their best years ever, so go figure
I feel that a lot artists are realising they aren't in competition with each other, but in competition with an exploitative industry. And that gives me hope!
I am so gutted I don’t know what to say. The best of our generation, and the most beautiful charming intelligent presence to be around. I will treasure the memories, and the music will live forever. Rip Sophie
the only music industry rule worth following is to release good music. and seeing as every musician breaks this rule, we might as well break all the others
I’ve been a fan since I first listened to Worlds, and remember thinking back then how I hope I meet and work with this guy one day. I’d play Sea Of Voices to so many studio visitors! A lot has happened since and here we are, very exciting
@porterrobinson
The uk government had the worst response to covid in the world. Never forget that. Don’t let them blame the protests that started a week ago. They failed and they lied.
Leave A Light On is out now! I’m so happy to give this a proper release, thank you for all the kind messages the first time around, they meant a lot to me. Orlando x

Hey
@Spotify
you should give artists and users the option to hide play counts.
This would halt the race to the bottom that your platform has encouraged
i wwwwas thinking about not talking publicly about music industry stuff this year, and just being "here's my song, here's my butt" but no. too much mischief afoot already and we've a only got a couple years left anyway
Much love to my guy
@SGLewis_
on his album release day! I worked on a few tracks and want to shout about two them today - “Oh Laura” one of my fav pop songs I’ve ever been a part of. And 8min+ Balearic instrumental yacht sinker centrepiece “Epiphany”
