Friends?
Please listen to your bodies. If something feels "off", get it checked out.
I could have easily lost my husband this week.
He's home now. We will be setting appts with a whole team of folks.
We were lucky. Many aren't.
@KennethTice
I am taking my time through the Dan Rather book "What Unites Us" and allowing it to remind me that we have been and can be better. We just have to hope common sense prevails.
Indiana boys and Indiana moms.
Had just been thinking about how pleased I am to know we get another year with these guys, how Indiana kids matter for us. This is a great puc, on a great night, of some great folks.
I'm a season ticket holder, year two of that status with
#iufb
. I have attended countless other games as a lifelong fan and Bloomington resident.
Can I share a few things that I noticed?
My childhood, and foundation as an IU basketball fan, has RMK as a cornerstone.
It wasn't always pretty, or good, it was flawed and human, but this was a man who was damn good at his job, and was quietly as kind as he has been viewed as loudly unkind.
Welcome back, Coach.

Right now, be on vacation with Hollis.
She doesn't get to come in NOW and ruin this time for you.
There will be time enough for the emotions, but now? Those emotions are focused on your son. Blessed Be. <3
So many of you have walked with me these last few days as I worried over my boy.
This morning, as I sat with him, he peacefully took his last breath, on his bed, in the comfort of our living room.
Thank you guys so much. Your support has helped more than I can say. 💔🐾
I have lived in Bloomington my entire life. I have raised my children here.
WE ARE ANGRY, AND WE ARE HERE TO FIGHT FOR OUR FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, COWORKERS AND FELLOW HUMANS.

Hi again.
Just as a heads up, our policy is NOT AT ALL that the customer is always right.
We're doing your taxes. We know the rules. You don't. The words "It's my return, do it like I tell you." will ALWAYS get you your papers back.
Don't mind me, I'm just over here giving a standing ovation of one in my office.
Well done, Levi. Well done. I look forward to reading your published works.

Can I tell you a quick story?
In 2012, we celebrated my grandfather's 90th birthday.
Coach sent him a note. Some of it was specific to my Gramps as a Hoosier Fan. Some was about my Dad. Mostly is was a couple of guys, reminiscing.
I have a photo of that letter. I love it.
I have donned my hoodie and my sneakers tee.
I've missed far more than I've watched, and I understand it's been a difficult couple of weeks of play, but that's in what is likely the most challenging year of these kids' lives.
Here to cheer on my boys. Go Hoosiers!
#IUBB
@KrisKling
Please don't feel you need to apologize. Remember that the show slogan is Real.Funny.
Emotions, pain, tears, mental health - that's the "Real", and the Real you all share has helped me become a better mom, better advocate, better human.
We love you.
We've got to prove both on and off the field that the product is worth the investment. This is a jaded fan base, with a lot of years of disappointment, (the kick was good, though) and we have to heal our heartbreak to be ready to love!
I just sold a program to a gentleman so excited to be here today. He has been an IU fan his whole life, and is here for his very first in-person game.
I love that. ♥️
I am exhausted, but so proud of my team.
This year was so hard. So emotional. Days when every single one of us wanted to shut it down and walk away. We pushed through, and we made it.
Now we regroup, reset, rest some. And then we forge ahead!
Maybe, just maybe, instead of people with no background in education making decisions and rules about education, we let educators do it.
Instead of worrying about a specific test, we focus on reaching kids where they are and helping them find their path to success.
Just helped a single mom file her return, understand her stimulus situation, and access money to help pay off some things that have been hanging over her head.
I made her smile today.
Gonna be honest.
I get it, there are tax pros who really look down on "big box" companies.
I'm not perfect, but I'm damned good at what I do. There's a lot of us in my "big box" company who are.
Don't be snide with me if you've not given me half a chance. I might surprise you.
I get being frustrated. I do. But once a situation is what it is, can't we make the best of it?
Not saying there aren't things to be addressed, but first, let's finish what we are here to do.
@jakequery
I'm not a medical professional, but if Randy's closing in on 24 or so hours of vomiting, he could be dehydrated. Phenergan and fluids could really help him out.
Trying not to cry as I send home the last employee. Even knowing that we will survive, and that we'll be back as soon as it's safe to do so, I'm worried for some of them. The income we're able to provide is so critical for their everyday lives.
Hey Indiana, look at all of these professional educators adjusting lesson plans on the fly to take classrooms virtual for the next 3 days. Putting together information for kids that may not have internet access. Because that's what they do, without being micromanaged.
Y'all.
I mean.
I am so grateful to get to be a Hoosier fan, because these kids are out here getting it right.
Not perfect, but as a mom, with kids in this age range? This is what I hope I have raised my kids to be/do.

News is reported. People do that. It is their job. I get paid at my job, which is a function of consumers paying for my product. Please understand that newspapers (even online!) are a product. Subscriptions = paychecks for hard working providers.
Friendly reminder that the IRS is still really backlogged, and your tax preparer has no control over how long someone else needs to do their end of the job.
We prepare the return and send it to them. The rest? Not up to us.
Let me be clear - I will be in my seat by kickoff every week.
I will stay until the final whistle.
I understand why students and area families don't or can't.
It's not JUST the on field product.
@IraGilligan
I might have teared up a little as I read this, because I was able to be responsive for such a long time, and it's gotten so hard, and I don't like it but am so buried in the other stuff I don't have the ability to fix it quickly.
Chatting with someone this morning, and tax came up.
"My guy worked some real magic and got me some child tax credit! Told me he found me a loophole!"
Um.
Ok.
I feel like I need to reiterate that what Coach Cig wants is also VERY MUCH what I want! I want fans there, and I want them to stay! This ship CAN be righted, but we've taken on a lot of water over the years. Grab an Oaken Bucket, let's bail it out and have us a season!
Trying to wrap my mind around the idea that an area CPA called and casually left us a voicemail requesting we just email over a couple years of returns for a client.
That's.. that's not how that works.
(I have spent a lot of years with my "invisible friends" - people I *only* know online. Coming to the
@taxretreat
to meet so many who have been avatars and answers for all these years has been AMAZING.)
It was hot - much hotter than even that morning's forecast indicated. We tailgated, I drank a lot of water. We took a sealed water in with us, and refilled at stations twice. I went home with heat exhaustion.
That's an isolated to that day scenario, but it was a factor.
Knowing that the team that put this whole thing together is all volunteers just solidifies the value of this community.
Again, my thanks to all of
#TaxTwitter
for
@taxretreat
. Just a phenomenal effort and result.
Add to that, GA style season tix at JMU? $172.
Mine last year were $310.
This year, no change to what I purchased (didn't add seatbacks, etc - just tickets) but an over 50% increase in price, to $496.
I have had a really tough week, and apparently now I am on a soapbox, so apologies, sort of and not really.
Indiana, you are a mess.
Get it together.
Fellow Hoosiers, do better. I need to. I have not been loud enough, frankly. Grateful to those out there fighting for us. ❤️
First, I appreciate the passion of our new coach. I'm here for it. However, as I read some of his comments re: attendance, I kind of have to chuckle. Expected a sellout? Sold out before?
Yep. 25k vs 52k total seats.
@88hogfan
@blakeshelton
What in the actual hell in there offended you? "Just no" on which part? Justice for a murdered man, peace, or improvement to our society for its people?
Please, I need that clarification.
Spent yesterday and today detaxifying. Got some laundry done, the front yard mowed. Hung out with my husband, my animals. Did a little cleaning, but not much.
Post 4/15 always takes some adjustment after months of the nonstop.
Any woman who has ever walked into a Planned Parenthood for ANY purpose (not necessarily abortion care) is just rolling their eyes. Sorry about your steak. Let us tell you about harassment.
@jakequery
As a 53, we focused on 47 is Bedford/Lawrence Co, 28 is Greene, 60 is Owen ...
I still judge how someone drives based on if they're "local"..
This Moscato Monday brought to you by a broken permissions setting, 4 conversations with support, a CP2000 based on a payroll firm error, and the "When are you old enough to not have to pay taxes anymore?" phone question.
In other news,
Middle kid got his official acceptance into the IU Media School this past week.
He did an associates with intent to transfer via Ivy Tech, completed magna cum laude. Took the summer and fall to work, reset and decide on his path, and starts in the spring.
My 16 year old got a job. He received his second paycheck this week.
Know what he did? He got a budget app, & started saving for long term goals, as well as planning for short term ones.
Can he be in Congress? He seems to have a better grasp on this stuff than some there...
Dear parents who do not file joint returns (never married, divorced, whatever...) - PLEASE pay attention to who is supposed to claim kids and how. There are rules, and often there are court orders, and I don't need to be this involved in your relationships. K, loveyoubye
My first foray into
#taxtwitter
is pretty rooted in conversations with
@taxgirl
- appreciated the opportunity to share a table and some conversation today!
I disagree with what Tim did. It was unnecessary.
I don't want us to be bullies about it.
We become no better.
Be kind to one another, despite our differences, our disagreements. Not be friends, not tolerate bad behavior, but also, don't respond with our own poor choices.
Ok, I cannot be at today's game. I'll be at work. It sounds like it's gonna be kind of a big deal. So, please let me remind you that your purchase of a program will support one of our local public high schools. If you can, please pick one up. $7 cash.
Kthxlvubye
Loving the negative responses from the folks who want to tell me I am wrong because I choose to continue to be a fan.
I didn't say the game went well.
I said I still support the team.
You don't have to like it, or me, I'm a-ok with that.
LEO.
I shall forever be that sucker, I guess. The "Fan Girl", if you will.
Yes, today sucked. It sucked for me, as a fan.
But I will still cheer. I will still hope. I'll celebrate, and pout, and know that it's a game.
It shall just have to be my fatal flaw. I'll keep LEO-ing. 🤷♀️
Hi, employers? If you're going to hire people who live and work for you in other states, please register and submit withholdings for them in those states.
Don't just make it up as you go.
I don't know if others felt this way, but going from one child to two was far more challenging than becoming a parent for the first time. (It was also harder than when we added

.)
@KrisKling
Yessss. Spent a beautiful week in Hawaii with my husband and another couple.
Over 700 photos.
I am in 4.
Four.
It's heartbreaking to me. I take so many pics of others, and there are so few of me, ever. With my loved ones, enjoying special moments. Take the pic.
Game day is an event - we know that, and it's why we've added things like The Walk and now BTown Blvd. Integrated beloved local flavors. We know.
We have to keep it attainable and accessible, and not expect things to change immediately.
One of the highlights of the
@AssemblyCall
meetup for me was meeting a gentleman who did flight training under my grandfather.
I love when that happens.
I think one of my favorite opening likes for stuff on
@TheBertShow
is when
@KrisKling
says "Wha ha happen was..." There is this consonant drop that happens when she is gearing up, and I adore it.
This is depressing.
I really have "met" some amazing people because of Twitter. Had some cool experiences.
Owner's suite at a Colts game. The whole Assembly Call crew. Harassed HT sports guys into real Thanksgiving meals. Mario Marathon tweeps. So much more. I hope we make it.
Can we all just take a moment and say thank you to the AMAZING engineers who made these cars and improved the safety gear?
Because those guys won tonight.
