@jessepollak @ethereum @base Arbitrum has lost its leading position among Layer 2 (L2) solutions because it chose to increase fees rather than expand its capacity. On the contrary, Base is on the right track.

Another reason why protocols like GMX are losing market share is the gas limit issue on Arbitrum. Their team has set the block gas limit at 7 million gas per second (7m/s), and when this limit is exceeded, gas fees increase sharply. 7m/s is much lower than Base's 19m/s, which is why Arbitrum's daily transactions remain around 2 million. Arbitrum’s network cannot offer high throughput while maintaining low fees, which is why more and more protocols are moving to Base. Can you imagine during the LayerZero airdrop, Arbitrum had only around 3 million transactions on that day, with each transaction costing several dollars in fees, while Base maintained 10 million transactions daily, with fees only a few cents?

At 10:55 on December 5, 2024, the current transaction fees on Arbitrum are 10 times those of Base, while the transaction volume is only one-third of Base's. Your team is rushing to monetize without securing the market, which is seriously harming the interests of ARB holders. Please consider increasing the gas limit from 7M/s, or you risk losing users.

@sgoldfed I suggest raising the current 7M/s limit to a higher value, allowing Arbitrum to maintain high throughput while being more cost-effective.

@arbitrum @OffchainLabs Why is Arbitrum's gas throughput limited to 7M/s, with fees rising sharply beyond that, while Base chain can achieve 19M/s?
