Organized an event in support of the Bibas family at Columbia today and read the names of the hostages. We'll keep at this until all the hostages are home. Big thanks @edenyadegar @LishiBaker @Eliana_Goldin @Davidlederer6 @cbhillel @CU_JewishAlumni @bringhomenow @BringBibasBack

@NerdeenKiswani Vandalism and harassment are not the same thing as a boycott. Harassing random businesses in service of your goal of a "Zionist-free NYC" is unacceptable. Go protest an embassy or something, leave random people and business out of it. Pretty simple...

It's not just antisemitism. This is also part of a disgusting pattern of *discrimination by national origin* against Israelis that hasn't been called out nearly enough. The anti-Israel movement has a special hatred for Israeli-Americans. Call it out for what it is.
Vandalizing an Israeli restaurant with the libel βgenocide cuisineβ simply because it is Israeli is an act of antisemitism. The distinction between Antisemitism and AntiZionism might exist on paper but it collapses in the real world.

@det_frankdrebin @Yenta_ramblings When uninvolved students see their friends punished for engaging in this rhetoric and they don't understand *why* they were punished, they grow more anti-establishment and sympathetic to the protests. Enforcement + messaging go hand in hand. Columbia has failed to do both.

@Yenta_ramblings Of course it's not enough and they should've done this a year ago. But messaging is a precursor to any meaningful action. They need to explain to the 30k+ uninvolved students/faculty that these aren't "innocent students" and that they're employing violent rhetoric/actions.

@WaltIsNotMyName @MaxNordau I'd argue you can't win an *actual* genocide like you can a war (as Kiswani claims). You can survive it, which can be a symbolic/moral victory, but you can't "win" bc 1. the loss is so great and 2. its victims aren't combatants. Agreed on 2nd point.

@NerdeenKiswani @tabletmag This is such a disingenuous argument that I hate to engage but... Allied forces defeated Nazism + won WW2. In the Holocaust, Jews LOST 1/3 of population (still hasn't recovered), and suffered immense generational trauma. You can't win a real genocide. You can only survive it.
