@MetaPrinxss Beacsuse WordCamp organisers are not his employees and cannot request "alignment" from them. And for total control of course.

But what can you expect by a podcast presenter who admit that he does not need to know the facts. For him it is just a black and white picture with no important details. And he takes Matt's side on... what exactly? Well, if you don't do your homework you don't even know that.

Matt got requests by confused people who were WPEngine customers and contacted him for support. Right. Let's count how many times the average WordPress developer got support requests for WordPress dot com. And answered them!

He says that WPEngine is not that a big hosting company in the market but their -alleged- trademark violation created a lot of confusion. That is a contradiction.

Matt got right the fact that the ecosystem is so much larger than the platform itself. I grant him that this happened not by accident, but by design. Still it is a truth that should lead him to different conclusions.

FSE is not mature but not necessary and not for the everyday user. The block editor itself though has a small learning curve, is lightweight, can be adjusted to the bare minimals and can be heavily extended. Also, the core needed some builder after sticking with the text editor for almost 20 years. So, overall I guess it is OK. :)

He doesn't see it as part of the long-term plan per se, I think, rather like a bump in the road. And, yes, he has become a ends-justifies-the-means kind of agent. For all I know, he might even be thinking of all this as part of some sort of martyrdom that will be atoned in the end.

@ChapitreOnze I am, although not very active yet. To be honest I am only active on Facebook, because this is where most of my friends are. Twitter I use only because it has been popular in the WordPress ecosystem (so far at least).

I think that if you lay things down in terms of power Matt still holds most of them at his disposal. Few exceptions exist like Pressconf and some -few- meetups, but they are a very small minority statistically. Think of it this way: any, literally ANY, entity in the WordPress ecosystem, be it a blog or a hosting company or a meetup or you name it, is proven to be at Matt's disposal, should he think they are "anti-WordPress" or "anti-Automattic" (these are the terms he uses). I don't like judging things in terms of power, and I don't normally do, I think it's toxic, but, at the moment this is what we are witnessing. Look at this little development from the sponsors' vetting process for WordCamps. Doesn't matter how well you comply. Two people are the ultimate judges.

@paloukas Hahaha I am not trying to evade the question, honestly I have never in the past 15 years created a project for production that is not a spin-off of that installation. Only for testing stuff do I start from a fresh installation.
