Unfortunately youth in #Kishtwar are losing lives due to the negligence of hydro project companies. Those who raise their voices for accountability are being treated as criminals instead of receiving justice.
Kishtwar has witnessed numerous tragedies stemming from the careless and negligent practices of hydro project construction companies. In a recent incident, two young lives were lost, and 12 others sustained injuries—some so severe that they may never walk again. Distrustful of the administration’s response, the victims’ families, relatives, and locals organized protests, seeking justice and relief for those affected. However, instead of initiating a thorough probe and holding these influential companies accountable for their negligence, the administration has resorted to a spree of detentions under the guise of an investigation linked to an FIR. This appears to be more about satisfying the egos of district officials and demonstrating allegiance to the BJP than about delivering justice. The harassment of local youth is both condemnable and deeply shocking. The state administration should redirect its energy and resources toward providing relief to the victims and ensuring that these companies face accountability for their actions, rather than perpetuating an atmosphere of fear and repression. @takfirdous
