Syria: What did Putin say to Al-Shara? ============================= President Putin held a phone call with Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara. He reaffirmed Russia's principled support for Syria's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The Russians who killed countless Syrians? The British government? The American government who sent people to be tortured by Bashar and supported him? All who have the blood of the ummah are now welcomed by Al-Shara. إِنَّمَا يَنْهَىٰكُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَنِ ٱلَّذِينَ قَـٰتَلُوكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَأَخْرَجُوكُم مِّن دِيَـٰرِكُمْ وَظَـٰهَرُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ إِخْرَاجِكُمْ أَن تَوَلَّوْهُمْ ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُمْ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ "Allah only forbids you from befriending those who have fought you for ˹your˺ faith, driven you out of your homes, or supported ˹others˺ in doing so. And whoever takes them as friends, then it is they who are the ˹true˺ wrongdoers". [Al-Mumtahanah 60:8] This ayah seems to mean nothing to Al-Shara. May Allah protect us from being the wrong-doers referred to in this ayah. Some have become blinded and fail to recognise the enemy as an enemy. Some say forget the past, this is a new Syria. It is a delusion to think that by following the West and becoming just another secular Arab regime, this will bring good for Syria. Doesn't he see what happened to all the existing Arab/Muslim countries? Which of them is truly 'independent'? Which did anything to liberate Gaza? When the Prophet (alayhi salam) became the ruler in Madinah, He set out a new independent course and Islam defined the basis of the state's relations with others. Today, we are told to abandon that aspect of the Sunnah - and still expect success, progress and Allah's help? That is delusion indeed. Any sincere Islamic leadership will follow an independent path and create new and friendly economic/cultural/political relations with non-belligerent nations and people. It will also cut relations with those who have a history of fighting and killing us and interfering in our affairs and who aided rulers like Bashar who fought and killed the people. This is what the re-established Khilafah state will do. We need to keep calling out these misguided actions that harm the ummah and earns Allah's anger. We need to encourage and push for those actions which Islam calls to. That is the essence of being an Ummah that calls to the good and forbids the munkar. Silence is a green light to Al-Shara and the Arab/Muslim rulers to do as they please - and we have seen where that leads. كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ ۗ "You are the best community ever raised for humanity—you encourage good, forbid evil, and believe in Allah." It is challenging. We need to ask practising friends and practising families when we are searching. InshaAllah, just as there are young Islamic brothers looking, there are also young Islamic sisters looking. We just need to make dua and make efforts to connect the two sets of people.
