We haven't had three consecutive losing seasons this century - that's nearly two generations who think this kind of winning on the regular is jst normal and average in the NFL (it isn't).

@MickeyRaz @lawlornfl Considering where they were at the end of last year, its been amazingly successful. Each year, 97% of all teams don't win the Super Bowl, so that's a prescription for misery as a fan if that's the minimum-expectation-line every season.

@GaryWolensky @lawlornfl To be fair, '88 was a pretty good year: Randall was incredible, both the offense and defense were clicking for the first time since Vermeil, and the loss in the Fog Bowl felt like the start of something special, rather than the apex of the Buddy years that it turned out to be.

It wasn't like there was some kind of calm, sane reaction that was going to happen if her social media was left unchanged - it would have been dissected to find *something* to justify the verdict that had already been reached.

@naasking @tracewoodgrains ..which gets back to my original point, though: the timing means the two aren't separable, and the perception remains for a lot of folks of linking on to a tragedy's attention for one's own reasons ; you can argue all you want that that perception is unfair, but it is what it is.
