A section of a Roman road has been unearthed under Old Kent Road in south-east London. Known as Watling Street, the near 2,000-year-old road ran from the Roman port at Dover through London to the West Midlands.

@Ladyfuckwit I think my late 40's were best. Working in my chosen field and loving it. I miss it like crazy and would love to get back to it, but job security and stability is the current priority. #ArchaeologyRocks.

Perfect picnic spot for ogres and other persons of the gargantuan persuasion. (But trolls always bring the best potato salad … if you can get past the pimento-stuffed grubs.). #ArchaeologyRocks.

When a structure persists beyond the edge of common knowing, it becomes an engine of mystery, an engine of folklore. This process is a testament to the strength of the Long Neolithic, not as some suggest, a flaw. – Dr. K Brophy #StandingStoneSunday
