In Denver some of my students would say they are Catholic, not Christian, and say they’d never heard Catholic was a type of Christian.
In Baltimore, most of my American students are Protestants, but very few have ever heard that term and many won’t believe that’s what they are
Young folks are almost completely unaware of what the term "Protestant" means. They are 2.5x more likely to say that they are "Christian" than Protestant.
That's going to make religious classification much harder going forward.
